Aladdin tickets??

OK, so our family has just decided to plan a trip to DL. This will be our first time there, so I've been reading the boards and went and bought a book. I'm looking for all the help I can get. Anyway, in the book I bought it talks about tickets for the Aladdin show. WDW doesn't do this so this is new to us. How does this work and is Aladdin the only show they do this for? Also, do they even still do this? (unfortunately the book is a little outdated ) I'm sure there will be plenty more questions as I read further into the book and do more research. I'm also waiting for DH's bonus at the end of October to decide where we will be staying so after that the questions will probably fly! Thanks for any help!

When the show first started they had Fastpass type tickets you could ge as you were entering the park or the Hollywood Pictures Backlot area, but they discovered that they really just didn't work, so they gave those up pretty quickly. It's now first come first serve and you wait in line outside the theater until they let you in (usually about 15 minutes before the time in the show schedule).

So, here are my questions:

We are planning to see the Aladdin show at 12:30 -- can we bring food inside? I'm thinking we can grab some lunch and then eat it while we are waiting in line to get into the show. Is there any particular line you need to be in to get the mezzanine seats? I've followed the other threads about where to sit, but as I recall in WDW for the Lion King show they direct you to where you'll sit. Is it open seating like Beauty and the Beast?

What time can we get in the parks on an EE day when we are not using EE? The park opens at 10am and we will have already used our EE day previously. Just wondering if there's any point to getting there before 10am?

I leave for sunny CA in 1 week and can hardly wait! I even had a dream about it last night, but it wasn't good: it was raining and we lost our park hopper passes!

My guess is that it's very unlikely food is allowed. There are seperate lines outside the theater for the different sections, we liked the first row of the first balcony; you can sit anywhere within the section that you choose. They won't let you in before park opening, but there will be people lined up to get in.

Me too! Can't remember the last thread I started here, but I have been trying to post a new one for the last 15 hours and keep getting the same message as you. I sent a tech support message. Haven't heard anything back yet.

I do not think you can bring in food. The Hyperion is a really nice theatre. You choose where to sit. When you get in line outside, you must choose one of three levels. Most folks say mezzanine is best. That is what we did last month and it was a good choice.

You can get to the park as early as you want. If you want to get a lot of rides done in the AM, most people would advise to get to the gate 30 minutes early. Conventional wisdom is to avoid FantasyLand on EE mornings when you yourself do not have EE, because the lines are already long there.

No food or drinks are allowed in the Hyperion, but you can eat in the line outside. As you come in, you'll notice that there are 3 of the turnstiles (the kind with infrared sensors) with section names around them--Orchestra, Mezzanine, and Balcony. Often the Balcony is closed, but Orchestra and Mezzanine are always open. You are able to choose your seats.

Also, if park opening is 9am or later, Main Street in DL and the Sunshine Plaza & Condor Flats areas of DCA (DCA never opens officially before 10) are open. In DL you can eat or shop until park opening. At DCA, it's eat, shop or ride Soarin' as that ride is open at 9:30.

I'm still not clear on when to line up to enter the park on a EE day when I don't have EE. EE is at 9, the park opens at 10. Should I be in line around 9:45? I'm assuming they don't let non-EE people in until 10 sharp?

If the park opens at 10 and EE is at 9, then Main Street will be open at 9:30. Personally, I like being at the rope for rope drop as it gets me to where ever I'm going first faster.

EE is at 9, regular open is at 10: So, if they let the general public in at 9:30 but keep them roped off at main street, then anyone who has EE had better be in the park before 9:30 or they're going to get stuck at the ropes?

Actually, they can get past the ropes (they have an opening to the left side just for them), but they need to show the security officer at the opening to the side their hotel ID.

But those of us with the hopper passes with the special one-time EE aren't staying at the hotel. Lol. I know at WDW we were able to get by the gates when showing our hotel key/cards... I still don't understand how it works at DL.

Now you know why my mother always said I was difficult.
