Having never seen the show, I am wondering what the priority seating fuss is all about. If I don't have priority seating tickets, does this mean that I may not be able to get in to see the show at all?

I have heard such good things about the show that I would like to see it at least once. My favorite at WDW was Hunchback, and I was so saddened when they closed that one down. :sad1:

People that purchase packages or tickets from Costco, AAA, etc. get these with their purchase, and some people don't use them and share them with others. There is a thread on here that you can add your name to to request tickets from anyone that might be kind enough to share their extras.

I think this is how it all works, I am kind of new at DL stuff. :confused3

I have never seen the theater and don't have a clue as to how many seats there are, and that is why I was wondering if I stood a chance to get a seat as just a regular person standing in line.

PS tickets for Aladdin come in packages from AAA, Costco, Disney, etc. PS tickets allow you to get into the show earlier than the general admitance people. Get in line about 1/2 before the show starts and you should have no problems.

It's only a big deal because most of the members of this board are compulsive planners. I'm currently 8th in line on the priority seating thread because I noticed it a long time ago, and we were already planning our July trip. But I'm not expecting to get the passes. If we do, great. If we don't, that's just fine.

On average (not extremely busy) days, you can get good seats by getting in line 1/2 hour before the show. Last time we were there, we got in line just 15 minutes early. We got the mezzanine level. I actually think those almost front row mezzanine seats were better than the previous time we were there, where we got in line 1/2 hour early and got towards the rear of the ground floor.

And how do you get them? I never have, but I believe they're a perk when you get a package, either from Disney or someone else like Costco.

HTH,
Bob

It's huge. On a very busy day, if you don't get there until 5-10 minutes before it starts, you run the risk of not getting a seat. As Jack says, just get there 1/2 hour early and you'll be golden.

Now granted we were there during the busiest week ever (April 5-10) but we showed up 30 minutes early and was already shut out of the priority seating line. We were directed to the balcony line which was the only availability. We ended up in the 2nd row of the balcony and felt we had great seats to look down and watch the entire show.

I need to find that other thread so I can pass our tickets along.

This is what happens at the busiest times of the year, usually no problem.

Our experience using the Preferred Seating tickets was in early December; not a crazy-busy time, so take that into account.

We had to be in line at the PS podium before 30 minutes before the show. At that time, no one was in the regular line.

The regular line started moving WELL before our line moved. Even though they have umbrellas in the PS line, when not under the umbrella it was quite hot. Normal line was shaded by the building.

We were the last to be seated.

Seating area for the PS people is the "orchestra" section, which means the ground level (stage is higher than you) close to the front. That would be great for just about any other show.

However, Aladdin has one impressive moment where something comes into the theater...in the orchestra section, you do NOT get the best view of this.

And Aladdin has another impressive moment when a certain flying carpet goes overhead...you have a bad view of this as well, where if you were sitting in a balcony you would have a spectacular view.

So, having had the experience, I do not have a single clue why anyone wants this, as it's the worst view in the house, it seems. And for us, we got in very last (the rest of the theater was full when we were finally let in).

AND if you have little kids with you, you don't WANT to be first in (if the PS line gets in early), because that's more time for their bladders to wake up. There's no bathroom in the building! You have to make your way out, let an usher know that you have to leave so they give you something (slip of paper? can't quite remember), make your way over to the bathrooms between the theater and Monsters Inc, then go all the way to the normal seating side of the theater, find a CM (I had to wait for a CM to come back), show them the slip of paper (or whatever), and get back to your seat. So the less time for bladders to "act up" the better!

We had a totally different PS experience last September. The PS got let in first through the middle row. We were able to get front middle row in the second floor section. This is the place to be!!! If you can avoid it do not get the first section of seats closest to the stage. Many people run to these but they don't give you the best view of some of the show. That being said, I think this is such a great show that you will not want to miss it even if you don't have the best seats.

One other PS note -- they won't let one person "hold" the seats for your party so you all have to be together. So if you have little ones with you make sure you take a bathroom break before they start letting people in the theater. You can ask one of the many CMs around the theater when they let people in so you can maximize your timing.
