I have not seen Aladdin at DCA since it first premiered, however many years ago that was. I am going to DL/DCA on Monday the 13th, and want to see the 6:20 performance of Aladdin. Is there any need to get tickets earlier in the day, or should we be able to walk up and get a seat? Also, any advice on where to sit for the best view?

TIA

It's first come, first-served, unless you have a resource for Priority Seating. So you should get in line early if you want the best seats you can get.

We were told by a cast member to sit in the dead center, four or five rows back as if you're too close to the stage you might miss some of the action.

We just happened to be going past yesterday when the CM shouted out to come see the show....so we walked up, got in line and within about 5 minutes we were going into the theatre, show started maybe 5-10 minutes after that.

We were up under the balcony to the right of center but didn't miss any of the action. Frankly I wouldn't worry a lot about getting front and center....there didn't seem to be any 'bad' seats in the house.

I do remember from having gone in the past that if you can get in the first row or two of the balcony you have not only a great view of the mainstage, but at one point Jasmine/Aladdin and the carpet are flying around....the balcony folks have an excellent view of the flying carpet. Having sat on the ground floor this past week, I was a bit surprised how many of the audience on the ground floor apparently had no clue what was going on because they weren't looking up.....odd because if you were only watching the stage you'd think it a little dead while the song is being sung, but I'm guessing they didn't see the few people who knew to look up, lol. So...if you do sit on the ground floor, look up when they're singing and not onstage, lol.

Now....keep in mind that the past almost 2 weeks that we've been here (since the weekend after Thanksgiving) it's been walk on or very very short lines for almost everything......if you're going mid-December to the end of the year the lines for everything are going to be much much longer. According to a CM and a bus driver, the California schools are out for THREE weeks for winter break so that means starting December 13 until January 3 the locals will all be coming as well as the normal holiday crowds. Makes me glad we're going home!

They no longer have tickets :-)

We showed up 45 minutes early and had nice seats...

This worries me...really? I just checked Orange Unified Schools (and I'm not familiar with the area, so not sure if this even is what I should be looking at :confused3) and it lists their Christmas vacation as starting the following week (not the 13th)...does anyone know more about other schools in California? Only wondering cuz we leave on Sat. and really planned on being there BEFORE everyone got out for Christmas vacation! Yikes!

Not all school districts have 3 weeks off. My son's school is only out for 2 weeks. But even with just some of the districts giving 3 weeks off, I'm sure it will be more crowded. Oh and I know the district in the town next to ours has 3 weeks but their third week is after the new year so they added the extra week to the end of the "traditional" 2 week period instead of putting it at the beginning. Not sure if any other school districts give those dates off but thought i would mention it.

apparently this is going to be a busy weekend....tried to get Fantasmic seating and first show is sold out, second had one seat for Saturday. CM told me that all is busy for reservations for Saturday....and quite unusual. She didn't know why....

In my experience the Fantasmic dessert reserved seating sells out well in advance and often on the same day the tickets are availalble a month in advance. And it is not an indicator of how crowded it might be. You may be right it will be crowded this weekend but I am not confident the Fantasmic seating is a reliable indicator of crowds. :cool2:

On a super busy Saturday we got in line almost an hour before the show began and were able to get the best seats, which in my opinion are not in the very first section of rows that are closest to the stage. there is like a section of rows, then a big space, then more rows. sit at the first row of that second section. does that make sense?
like someone else said, if you sit too close you will miss some stuff!

We had priority seating one time and sat in the 3rd or 5th row from the stage and did actually miss a few things.

i've sat in the second section 2 other times and it was perfect!
it really is an amazing show! have fun!

We prefer the Mezzanine section, we try to get in line for that section early and we try to get seats in the middle of the section down towards the front. We prefer it because when Aladdin & Jasmine fly they are right in front of you. :) We prefer the front because you can lean slightly forward and still see the parade as it walks by down below. When it's busy we try to get in line about an 45 minutes before the show, be aware then when they start letting people up the stairs others will push and shove their way to the front but we've still been able to get really great seats by being early. If you decide to try this you will have to ask the CM where to line up because they generally try to fill the floor section before trying to fill the other sections.

We are about 30 minutes from DLR and our district is only out for two weeks (starting on the 20th). But out district is not big enough to influence the crowd levels.

But I'm not surprised to hear of other districts going to 3 weeks since many are taking furlow days. I think our district is just getting out a week earlier in June than usual.
