We are arriving at LAX around 1:00 pm on Oct 18, are getting a rental car and driving to DLH. Our original plan was to just spend the remainder of the Sunday exploring DTD and going in the pool BUT now that the ent. schedule is up for that day, it is the only day Aladdin is playing during our trip.
Question: is it worth it to upgrade our 3 day parkhoppers to 4 days and rushing over to see Aladdin when we get there.
Also - would we have enough time to get to Aladdin and get in line to get in anyways? How much earlier do you havw to line up? There is a 4:15 and a 5:50 show.
This would be pretty much all we would do that day as DS4 and DD6 go to bed by 9:00 pm. However, I think they would love to see the play.
Any thoughts?

Aladdin is an amazing show. An amazing and funny show for all ages. I've now seen it 3 times and its been wonderful every experience. The first time I was on the second level, lining up about 30-40 minutes before showtime. Second time had the best seats when lining up with 1 hour before showtime. Third time was about the same. But that wait can be long and boring! We usually grab a snack to keep us "entertained" a bit... About 25 minutes before showtime is when it really starts getting busy.

It really depends on how important it is to you. If the kids don't know about it yet, is there any chance they'll find out, and if they do, how disappointed will they be if they can't see it? Are either of them huge Aladdin fans? And also, how will the kids handle the long wait on a travel day?

In the end, whatever choice you make, the trip will be amazing! Its Disney, and all of you will have a great time. :goodvibes

The other option we have is to go on Thurs Oct 22 (if its playing). We are checking out and driving to San Diego that day, but we could catch the first showing, then leave for SD. That is also my birthday so i could upgrade for free that day so we would only have to pay for DH, DS,DD.

Aladdin does not play on Mon-Wed so you should be able to catch it on Sunday or Thursday. Is it worth it? For me that is a no brainer. Aladdin is an outstanding show and is totally worth it.

Hard to say which day would be better for you. I like the idea of Sunday because it plays into your trip build up rather than being tacked on to the end. But then on Thursday it should not be so rushed. I think the extra cost for a fourth day is like $10 so the cost is not that much either way.

We love love love the Aladdin show! I would definitely not miss it. If you choose to see it on your birthday, I would pay the small amount to upgrade your ticket along with the rest of the family and get the fun card instead. More value that way!

When and where did you get your park hoppers? Disneyland has a buy three get two for free deal which would mean you could go Sunday and Thursday for no extra cost.

Definitely don't miss this show. I have seen this several times and loved it each and every time. There are a couple scary scenes that you need to be aware of if you think that might bother your little ones. Genie is hilarious, but they are probably too young to really get his jokes. But the story and music is wonderful and otherwise I am sure you will all enjoy it. We also arrive in LAX Sunday at around 1pm and I plan to have us go to the 4:15 show that day because that is the only day it is playing for us.

I say see about the buy 3 get 2 free first thing. But based on money savings, I would upgrade all the tickets and then go on Thursday so you can get your free gift card, then you would actually get more money then you paid to upgrade. BTW you have a great day for your birthday it's also mine :)

I would go, it's very much worth it! The cost to upgrade is minimal and if you go on Thursday you can do some free shopping too. :)

I just wanted to add another question on this...Can ONE person in your party stand in line for awhile and then have the family join in closer to start time?

We got to the entrance about 30 minutes before the show. They just had the queue open for the main floor. We just stood to the side and a few minutes later they opened the line for the mezzanine. Since multiple people can go up the stairs at once, we were probably in the first 50 people to enter the mezzanine and sat about 5 rows back, dead center.

The Genie is hysterical! Don't miss this show!

PS Once the queues for each section(more like huge cattle pens) are closed off, it may not be easy to join up with your group. I saw several people who had to beg CM's and it looked like some got in and some didn't.

That is considered by many to be poor ettiquette. To have a parent take a small child to the rest room while the family saves a spot is one thing. Or even a whole group to wait in line while one person runs a quick errand. But to have one person save a spot for many will get you some bad vibes from others around you. :)

Thanks! That's what I wanted to know. I have never been to one of the shows and have not seen how the line or waiting area works.

Please have your party wait together. We always get in line together about 40 min. before the show and then about 15 min. before we send the girls to the bathroom, they get a pass from a CM on the way out and meet back with us before we go in, we do this only because we can't leave once we are in.
