I have not seen either Aladdin show and was wondering what the difference is?

HUGE. The show at Disneyland is just a small little story. There are only 2 or 3 characters, the main ones being Aladdin and Jasmine. What is neat is it is fairly small and intimate and the kids can get fairly up close and personal with the characters and afterwards you can usually get pics with them. They do an abbreviated version of the story.

The show at DCA is a large theater production that shouldn't be missed. It is very elaborate with a cast like a broadway show. The Genie is the best thing about the show and you should def see it!

I have done both and like both but we have seen the DCA version many many times because we enjoy it so much.

Thanks Kelmac-
We will make it a point to see the Aladdin at DCA.
Do you know how long the show is?
Is there usually a long wait to see it or like Playhouse Disney where you can just pop in?

It's a 45 minute show and no, you can just line up a little bit before hand. I think people start lining up about an hour before the show. It's a BIG theater, but it gets filled up fast. If you are booking your trip through Disney Travel, you may get a priority seating coupon, but you still need to be at the theater pretty far in advance. It's 100% worth it though. I guarantee you won't be disappointed by the wait. This is a totally awesome show!!

I'll probably get slammed for saying this, but I actually prefer the little show in DL at Aladdin's Oasis. I like the narrator and the close-up interaction with the children. While I agree that the show in DCA is really great, I don't make a point to see it each time I go. But I go to Aladdin's Oasis each time we go if it's playing. :thumbsup2

We saw the CA version of Aladdin, and it was wonderful! A real full on theatre production. We saw the 6pm show, and got in line 30 minutes before, which afforded us to be in the first line to get into the bottom orchestra seats. After that is filled, the next line fills up the mezzanine, and finally the last row fills the balcony seats. It was a welcome nice air conditioned break, and the 45 min passes quickly. Lots of humor thrown in. The genie is very funny :lmao: Highly recommended :thumbsup2

We liked both, as well. For the DCA, a great place to sit is the first row of the second section, rather than in the orchestra section. This way, when the "animals" parade through, they are right there in front of you. All the actors handling them smile and wave right at you. My kids just loved it!

For the DL show, it was very cute and they will pick a few kids to come up and participate. It was a blast. Afterwards, Aladdin and Jasmine will sign autographs, too. At least, they did in 2005. I assume they still do. So that would be a great way to get Jasmine's autograph, rather than waiting at Princess Fantasy Fair.

Come to think of it, I haven't seen anyone stating there are princes in the Princess Fantasy Fair, so it may be one of the few ways to get Aladdin's autograph. Whatever happened to Cinderella's Prince Charming? And Prince Phillip?

Okay, see both if you have a Princess-mad DD!! The silly little show in DL is painless for adults, mildly sweetly amusing, but the kids who sit on the magic carpets in front of the action are enthralled!! My DD when 3 crept forward until her nose was almost touching the actors..so they added her to the show!! Priceless!
DCA really entertaining. Nice and A/Ced if you are needing any cooling, Chairs comfy if you are needing any napping, oh and the show is fun. I've seen it with , I think, three different Genies now...so it is always different!
Once we were in line for 1 hour waiting and sat near the front. Last visit we jumped in line as the people were filing in, and sat in the balcony and found the view was as good.
Only downer was no bathroom inside...so had a squirmy kid the last 10 minutes!!!:)

I have only see the cute little show at Aladdin's Oasis in Adventureland at DL (when we went the Aladdin Musical was cancelled due to a national cheerleading convention going on -- grrrrrrr . . . wouldn't have booked our trip for that time had we known that was going on that weekend!!!!)
If you have little ones, don't miss the Aladdin's Oasis show either. It is funny and cute for kids. My daughter got picked to go on stage and play Jafar (they gave her a mask of his face). It was too funny because she was only 3 and very tiny for her age and looked so cute playing a villian on stage. Afterwards she got a special button for participating in the show. They loved the autographs afterwards!
On our trip in October I am really excited to see the musical in DCA. I heard it was amazing!

Thanks Everybody.
We will definitely make an effort to see both shows. My kids aren't huge fans of Aladdin but I'll just tell them it's a "show" and a chance to get out of the sun.

Last year we were at DLR for 4 days and still didn't see everything. This year we're doing a 6 day trip so we don't have to feel so rushed.
I want to hit all of the small things this time, like the Aladdin shows.
We didn't even venture into the Paradise Pier area of DCA or the Redwood Trail.

I'll probably get torched too but I have to agree with you that I like the Aladdin's Oasis better. Could be that my 6 year old enjoyed it more. She was chosen to be a guard once and the year before when they chose some others she kept right on going on stage. The cast was so wonderful! Rather than making her leave they just worked her in. It was quite funny. It is an interactive show so not only do they have children participate but the whole audience is encouraged to participate.

On the other hand, my DS15 took a female friend last year and they saw Aladdin in CA 4 times! That makes me think that it is for sure better suited to a teen princess. I enjoyed it too but musicals are just not my favorite.

Both are definetly worth seeing. :thumbsup2

Hi, was wondering, is there usually a long line to get in to see this? And, I remember passing by it and I had thought it was a sit down meal area too?
No?

I think when we went we tried to line up at least 20 minutes before the show. It does fill up pretty fast as it is a small area. The children all sit down in front of the stage and parents find a seat behind them.

Years ago it was dinner and show. Now it is only the show.
