I just got off the phone with a Disney Guest Relations CM. I inquired about Fireworks and Aladdin in September. Here is what she told me (I do not think anyone should endorse this as 100% correct, but she seemed very confident in her answer and was looking at her own calendar, which we are not privy to on the Disney website).

The Verdict

Aladdin will close for refurbishment at the end of August and is not scheduled to run in September (major bummer if this is true).

Fireworks will continue on weekends through September and October. Magical (unfortunately not RDCT) will play on weekends until Mickey's Halloween party starts up, at which time the Halloween fireworks will kick in.

Hope this helps for those of you who were wondering about either of these. Again, I don't think we should view this as 100% accurate as CM's have been wrong before. But like I said, she seemed pretty authoritative. Perhaps someone else on these boards has more or better information? :earsboy:

This would be a major bummer if Aladdin really is closing! I thought they were extending it, lol, and closing it at the end of August instead of the middle of August would break my heart a little. I was under the impression they were simply trying to figure out how to schedule it around the construction that will be going on in the area.

As for the fireworks, something sounds amiss there as the Halloween fireworks will be exclusive to MHP guests so if they show it on the weekends, then it wont just be on MHP nights. The last thing we had heard was that RDCT would be showing on the weekends in September, including during Halloweentime (Sat/Sun since the Halloween fireworks will be showing at the MHP on Friday). I just wish I could remember where that informaiton came from.

Hmmm the schedule shows Aladdin playing the first few days in September. I hope this stays true as we were counting on seeing it then.

You may be right, Bella Ella. I could have understood this wrong. She did say it would be during MHP. I assumed this was on the weekends too. I guess the big takeaway is that fireworks will continue, on weekends through Sept. and October. Of course, the Disney calendar that we can all see still doesn't show this. Not sure what is taking them so long.

I hope you are right about RDCT. I would much rather have that than Magical. Maybe we should all take turns calling random CM's till we have a more scientific poll. What do you guys think, will 10 cast members do the trick? I may call again in a few minutes to try to talk to someone else. If we get the same answer enough times maybe then we can be sure it is correct.

As far as Aladdin goes, I am really bummed. And I don't know what they mean by refurbishment. Does that mean the stage is getting repaired (or something like that) or does that mean the whole thing is shutting down for good?

MousePlanet reported Disney reps stated RDCT would be playing on non MHP nights. Whether that will start in October with the MHP or in September with the start of the Halloween season IDK?

That's what it was, lol. :thumbsup2 Thanks. The impression I got was that RDCT would be in September as well, as the normal fireworks for the off-season these days. But you know what happens when you assume, lol.

September is still a month away (well, less for the first half of the month, lol) and all of this is subject to change, right? Besides, Aladdin is still up on the calendar for the first week of September. This waiting game is getting a little old, lol.

Ok, new update and a new CM. I just called again. The report you heard has been reconfirmed by the more knowledgeable CM I just spoke with. RDCT will replace Magical and they will show two fireworks shows, RDCT on some nights, and the Halloween Fireworks on MHP nights (Tuesdays and Fridays). The question has become, "When will the RDCT fireworks start?" --according to the latest CM I spoke with, no one knows. Although she guessed that Sept. 17th might be a safe bet being as it is the start of the Halloween season. She also surmised that the reason things are taking so long to be posted on the calendar is because they have to prepare the cannons for two shows, which takes a great deal of effort and time, to such an extent that they are still unsure when they will be able to get things off the ground.

Ok, now on to Aladdin...the Hyperion Theatre is scheduled to be refurbished from September 7th - October 7th. There will be no shows during this time period. However, once the theatre reopens, Aladdin will still be the in-house show...not Toy Story or anything else.

Gotta say, I am super bummed that Aladdin won't be playing on our trip!

Subject to change...that is mine and DW's only hope to see Aladdin at this point lol. Subject to change. :sad2:

Well, that's certainly the first time I have heard that the Hyperion Theater would be under refurb. What a total and complete bummer. And to think I finally got an offer on some Aladdin PS. Phooey. Well, as always I'll keep my figners crossed that something changes. It just makes no sense to me to have it closed at the same time as TSMM because now there's nothing to draw me in to DCA. I was looking forward to the 2 of those more than I am to WOC.

I would be bummed too. I would add that it is fairly common for Aladdin to be dark in September. Not every year but it seems every other year. They often go thru a re-casting period in September. With Aladdin's short shelf life it does not seem likely that will happen again but it might.

All I hear is blah, blah, blah....:rolleyes1
Thanks for the updates!
Good news about the fireworks!:banana:and what I was anticipating.
Sad about Aladdin! :sad2:

Aladdin- sad but have never seen it so I won't know what we're missing!

Hopefully the fireworks will be happening when we are there. We missed them last time as we chose to do some rides instead. DD has been looking forward to them.

The Disneyland Calendar now shows fireworks for most of September! Every weekend except for 9/10-12.

The shows for September (so far) look likes this:
9/1-9/6 - Magical
9/10-9/12 - No shows scheduled
9/17-9/19 - Remember...Dreams Come True
9/24 - 9/25 - Remember...Dreams Come True

Nothing is posted for Aladdin...

HydroGuy is on the money again! In 2008, the Hyperion went through a major refurbishment from Sept. 2 - Dec. 11. I remembered it being a longer refurb than normal and verified the dates through the excellently archived Mouseplanet DLR updates. I think we should consider ourselves lucky that this year's refurb is only 1 month long. Still, I can understand being frustrated if that 1 month falls exactly during your visit. :(

And there are auditions scheduled in Sept. specifically for Aladdin and Jasmine (via Disney Auditions site) in NYC.
