An unexpected week's vacation and computer problems at home interrupted my trip reports. Since I had already posted some, I felt compelled to finish!
While getting ready in the room, we received a phone call. I told Lela to answer it and she was thrilled to get a wake up call from Mickey inviting her to the kingdom! Of course, she thought he hung up to early and she wanted to call him back to talk, but it psyched her up for the days activities.
Once again, a quick breakfast in the room, followed by an enjoyable bus ride to the MK. We were there early enough to get through the turnstiles this time and we got to meet Donald!
Once inside, there were no characters in town square thankfully, so we went straight to Dumbo. We also rode Pooh and Peter Pan again while we were in the area.
The only character that we had to repeat was Ariel. Lela had been so excited about meeting her the day before that she wanted to show her the Ariel dress she wore into the park that day. Ariel remembered her from the day before, which really made Lelas day again!
We chose to do the attractions we had not visited the day before and lines were short for everything with the exception of the Jungle Cruise which was not issuing fast passes at that time.
Rebecca and I rode Splash Mountain as a test for Lela and then the three of us rode it together. It was a lot of fun! Brer Bear and Brer Fox kept causing problems downstream and we stopped a few times but it was fun. Since we have the video for Song of the South (no, it is NOT bootlegged!) at home, Lela was familiar with the story and characters.
Lela and I also enjoyed Big Thunder Mountain railroad together. I did not expect her to be tall enough for the rides but she was and she really enjoyed them. I think I have a coaster lover to go with me from now on!
After standing in line for so long, we decided to hop over to Tom Sawyer island for a little fun and exploring. We did not realize how limited the menu was so Rebecca (DW) and Rosemary(MIL) took a break while Lela and I played on the island and explored the fort, caves, etc. If you have the time to visit there and havent, I think it is worth the trip!
We went back to Tomorrowland for lunch and picked up 4 Fastpasses for Buzz Lightyear. While Rebecca and her mother shopped for goodies, Lela and I went through Buzz twice. Fastpasses are great and the attraction was a lot more fun than I would have imagined. Lela wasnt much of a shot at five, but she had a good time riding around and helping Daddy dispatch the bad guys!
We used our 2 way radios for the first time to catch up with the shoppers and Lela spent the Disney Dollars she had collected during the year on a hat and some beanies. We took a trip on the TTA for fun.
We got in a few more attractions like POTC and finally took a spin on the railroad, then headed to the castle for Cinderella's Surprise Celebration. Rebecca wanted to do a little more browsing in the hat shop on Main Street and Lela and I went to stake out a spot in front of the castle.
The show was great, and we met a few more characters while we were waiting for it.
When it finished, we decided at the last minute to stop at the camera shop on Main Street and Im so glad we did. We took our family picture and chose the castle background. The prices werent that expensive and it was a much better shot that I would have gotten otherwise.
We left before closing and went back to the room where Lela and I got ready for the pool. Mom and Grandmother watched while Daddy shivered with his princess in the shallow end of the pool. Thankfully, Lela was never quite able to push me into the stream of water being shot by the Caballeros! We were able to pick up a vest for her with no additional charge in the arcade which was nice and one less thing we had to pack.
While the others rested, I ventured out to the boardwalk to meet up at a Dis Con mini-meet at Jellyrolls. I was not an official attendee and did not have a name badge, but quickly found the group. In fact, I recognized Oldkicker in the parking lot and walked in with him and gina2000!
It was very loud and did not loan itself to meaningful dialog, but I met some wonderful people. Nativetxn made sure of that as she dragged me along to make sure I saw everyone! I wish I could name everyone I saw, but I would leave someone out and would never want to do that! Needless to say, I thought it was a group of great folks and wish I could have hung out more, but had to get ready to go the next day!
