Alabama cruisers?

Do you have passports or are you planning to use birth cert + DL?

Neither mine nor DH AL birth certificates have a raised seal, or are on colored stock and it has me worried. We were born late 60's, and have what our parents tell us are "originals" but they do not say "certified." The look really old, and are on heavy white stock that is about 1/2 the size of an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet. Do yours look like this?

Everyone talking about the "raised seal" requirement or "certified copy" has me concerned :(

Go to your local (county) Dept. of Human Resources to get the proper BC's. Just fill out a form and pay $12 per certificate. They will search the state records and get you your copies with the raised seal and on colored stock in just a couple of hours. This is what I did and we had no problems at all. You just have to show it one time. Make sure you have a photo ID, you'll need it everytime you get on or off the ship.

Bama boy (Roll Tide) right here. We won't be going until May 30th though. We originally wanted to go in mid-May since it looked to be an ideal time price and crowd-wise, but since my wife's a teacher it's hard to run out on your class the last couple weeks of school.

We are on the May 19th Wonder. (I wish we were doing the 7 day) This is our first cruise with the kids, and we thought we better start with just a few days and see how it goes. Erin

WAR DAMN EAGLE!!!

OK - not to turn this into a bama-slammer board... there's plenty of those out there already :)

Erin:

We did the same thing last Sep - went on the short 3-ngt Wonder (Mother/Daughter ONLY) and had a good time, only problem was she found so many new friends that she wanted to spend time with, Mom was left alone! So this time we're taking the 7-ngt with DH. I'm in Trussville (NE of B'ham.)

Irish is a fellow Alabamian who will also be on the May 25 Magic :)

BTW - cheap flights are gone... we're having to pay $177 pp for our flight with Southwest (and it conveniently takes us through New Orleans first!)

Traveled last Sep for $99 pp. Of course, our flight back was on Sep 11th and instead we got to drive :)

I'm from B'ham and went on the 3/23 for spring Break-Very expensive but very worth it!!!!!We had a ball but there were barely any Southerners much less Alabamians!!!The ship was full of Northerners and Midwest families-all very nice and friendly!!I rarely saw my kids. They met up with new friends and are trying to talk the grandparents into taking all the cousins back. I doubt it!!!!Have fun and wear that sunscreen. We got burned at CC!!Kathryn

Parrotheader, I'm sorry you can't sail on the 18th but I wish you happy sailing on the 30th. I know all of us parents appreciate what your wife does. What part of B'ham are you in? We live in NE B'ham Pinson area.

Erin C, I may be wishing I had started with a 4 day cruise before it is over. We have never sailed so the only boat experience any of us has had is on the lake. I'm getting a little concerned after reading all of the posts about getting seasick, not to mention this weird thing that seems to happen to some people after they get off the ship when the cruise ends. I keep reading about 13-15 ft. seas, does anyone know if this is as bad as it sounds? I assume they are referring to wave size. We will be deck 6.

Roll Tide!

Don't worry about a rocky boat. When we went (during hurricane season) we didn't feel a thing. Smooth sailing. And I have a very weak stomach - even get queasy when the plane taxis out :)

I would recommend taking along Bonine. I took one pill first day, didn't take anymore throughout. I also now take one before flying.

Do you have kids at Pinson Elem? My daughter attends Clay-Chalk Mid. GO COUGARS! I'm obviously outnumbered with my college, so thought I'd try the middle school :)

Srobin,
We'll be on the Magic May 25.

Looks like there are quite a few of us Alabama cruisers!

Kcand sunshine, how was your trip? Are you going to post a trip report?

Pugdog007, when are you flying to Orlando? We're flying down Thursday evening and spending Friday at the Magic kingdom. Spending Thursday and Friday at the Amerisuites near the airport and then driving over to the Port early Saturday morning.

Irish cowboy,
I had planned to post a trip report but I'm not too good at the computer so I don't know how to get it from Word to the DIS website. Any help would be apprecaited!!!!

We're flying down late Friday night & staying at the Airport Hyatt. I have a coupon for a free night at any Hyatt in the US and thought this would be the perfect time to use it!

We can't wait!!!

We've booked a Capt Marvin's snorkel excursion through them directly, but we're planning to do the other islands on our own & just "wing it."

Can't wait to meet everyone!

Have you received your cruise docs yet?
