Hi - can somebody tell me real quick what the SF is on the Value Studio's? I am trying to compare the size in my mind to the size of the Cat. 10 staterooms on the ships which are 214 SF. I want to try the value room to see how it really is since we're only 3 ppl to see if we'd be OK booking them again - but everybody complains about how small they are.

We have a cash ressie for 3 n in a value studio this July...but the AP rates just came out and I could beat the DVC rate by $146 on a regular pool view lodge room ($785 vs $638). I have felt lucky ever since I got this room in Oct. But the CM on AP hotline would not let me book the pool view room unless I cancelled the DVC room FIRST. He also would not tell me how many he had available. He was sorta not so nice actually. He said "I can tell you we have at least one". Well, so my luck, if I call DVC and cancel my value studio by the time I call back to the AP dept. the other room could be gone and then I would have none!

So tell me...should I just keep the value studio and then we'll know for sure how we feel about the value accomodations at AKV?!:confused3

AKV Studios in the Jambo House range from 316 - 365 SF. A Value would be on the low end of that scale.

The Value studios are 316 sq ft, the non-Values in Jambo House are 365 sq ft. The Values are the same width as the non-Values but are about 3.5 feet shorter. The bathroom and kitchenette areas are exactly the same size so the length difference is in the living/sleeping area.

Thanks guys!

I think I'm too chicken to cancel my studio and then call the AP hotline and miss out on the pool view room too. Those AP discount rooms go quickly and since I'd have to call 2 diff. numbers that would just be my luck. Since we have to go on a cash ressie I want to go for as little as possible but I also really want to see the villa room too...just so we will know if we'd ever be happy with a value one again. So I guess we'll keep it. The studio is 102 SF larger than our stateroom which we've done before so I'm sure we'll survive just fine.:goodvibes I'm just thinking about $ signs right now!:rolleyes1

I would call the AP line back and book the room. Tell them you need a second room. I don't believe there is an issue with having 2 reservations, is there? I have done it before - booked a room for me, then added another for my sister - but put them in my name. I think it is odd that the CM took issue with that. Sounds like a mini power trip on their part.

Then, when you get the better deal, cancel your DVC. I agree - I would hate to cancel, then call and not get the room you want with the discount you want. Good luck!

They are apparently enforcing some new rules or something. I called back again hoping that a diff. CM might be easier to deal with. Nope! I am not allowed to have 2 reservations under my name for the same dates! Regardless of them being under diff. systems she said. Now if it was not a DVC ressie she could take care of booking the new room and cancelling the old all at once. But AP & DVC are not allowed to be booked at the same time and they are 2 diff. phone calls.:confused3 I suppose if I wanted to get slick I could call DVC and ask if I could change the names on my ressie to other family members. THEN, I could call AP back and book and THEN call DVC back again and cancel. But that's just plain hooey to me.

I guess we'll just stick with our studio. We wanted to check them out anyway - and we're anxious to stay in the AKV villas. It's only $146 savings which isn't typically life altering...I got laid off at the end of Feb. but we had the cruise portion booked since LAST March (with points), the airline tickets booked in January, excursions booked in early Feb. etc. so am not trying to cancel everything NOW...just watching our pennies closer than ever!!:goodvibes

We stayed in a value studio over Spring Break (me, DD9, DS11). I cancelled my value studio for June - a trip that will include DH. BUT - I am going to reserve a value again Spring Break 09 for the three of us.

For me personally, two or three in a value is doable. I think four in a value is the tipping point where I would say the magic would be gone and I'd probably stop liking my husband.

I think you'll be fine as long as you don't mimd folding the bed back into a couch during the day. :thumbsup2

What kind of view did you get with the value?
I really want a savannah view but all that was availible when I booked was a value room.

We had a really lovely pool view. I  the savanna view - but I don't like the current savanna construction view that the value studios w/savanna views have right now. Until Kidani construction is done, I'd actually prefer the pool view. I'm sure it will be lovely once Kidani starts to look pretty and the fences and construction vehicles are gone. :thumbsup2

I just returned from staying in a value studio. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get to post pictures I took. No one's mentioned the fact that the bed in a value studio is close to the sliding door. When you enter the room, the sofa is closer. Also, the sink area is supposedly smaller. I'm not sure-I took pictures of the sink area in value and then savanah, so it will be interesting for me to compare. I also had a lovely pool view, nicer than the one from the standard studio, I thought. Right near an elevator that went directly to the pool area, very convenient.
