Since all the studios are currently booked for the time period we want to go, We were wondering if Disney hold's some studios back for cash reservations? If so do you get a discount by being a DVC Member?

You can certainly call Member Services and inquire about the cash discount for members for your dates. It is hit or miss, you can never tell if it will be available or not without calling. Also, it is 25% off rack rates and the DVC Member must be occupying the room. Good luck!

I called on about 3 different occasions (probably about 2 weeks apart) for a cash ressie on a studio for next July and finally hit paydirt on that 3rd call...the rooms come & go so you just have to keep checking and don't give up. This last time when I called they had both Savanna view (which they defaulted to at first) and when I asked if they had Standard or Value available they had the Value but not the Std. - they didn't offer the Value - I had to ask about it! I would love to have taken the Savanna but it was $100 more / n and we're only there for 3 nites (it's pre-cruise and we're already spending a lot so in trying to be somewhat frugal I took the Value room)! And as CarolAnnC said, it's 25% off the rack rate for the season... (In the interim I had made a ressie for a pool view room in the Lodge rooms to be sure we had a room - then I cancelled it when we got this - it worked out to be $177 cheaper!) Just keep calling and good luck!:thumbsup2

Actually, the 25% discount is not always available. If not, we have to check if there is availability for the rack rate. The 25% discount is on a limited amount of rooms (I have no idea how many) just like an AP discount or FL resident rate. We can make a cash reservation in anyone's name, as long as the member makes the reservation. I do it all the time.

The 25% discount is not a guarantee...it depends on time of year, etc. And since there are so few rooms available, those available for cash are very few and far between, but they DO exist.

Actually, I was stating the same thing as you. The 25% cash member discount is hit or miss and is not always available.

When you state you can make a cash reservation in anyone's name, are you saying that The DVC Member discount on cash rooms can be given or rented out to non members to use? The policy states that the DVC member must be occupying the room. I have never heard of this happening and I am curious if the DVC Polilcy has changed?
