I haven't been on the boards much recently, but I wonder if those of you here have the word on whether or not AKV standard views are difficult to book like the BWV standard views? Is it possible to get one at 7 mo.?

Besides that, how easy would it be for me to get someone to transfer 2 points (2009) into my account? LOL (I mean rental, though if anyone has a couple that are going to expire and just want to give them away....:) ).

Thanks!

We really don't have enough experience with AKV to give you a meaningful guess. We don't even know for sure if AKV "busy times" will follow the other DVC Resorts' busy times.

My opinion (without any data whatsoever to back it up, lol), is that it won't be as nearly hard as getting a standard view at BWV, especially after Kidani opens. AKV will have 458 units (max of 708 rooms) when it is finished. That's the 3rd largest WDW DVC resort (SSR is largest, followed by OKW). Most units will be savanna view, but a good chunk will be standard view, too.

I think the value category may be a challenge, though, since there won't be any of them in Kidani and there are aren't vey many in Jambo.

As far as the point transfer goes, it could be easy or impossible. Some members are reluctant to transfer small amounts since we are limited to one transfer per use year. But then again, you never know -it's possible someone will have exactly the number you want and offer to give them to you.

Good luck!

We're looking at AKV because we're a family of 5- so the value rooms wouldn't work for us anyway. I could also look into just renting the amount for one night....but then we're left with a weird number of points.

Or we could rent 2 nights and go to a savannah view. But I guess that depends on when Kidani opens. Is it by May 2009? I'll go look that up....hmmm...all I'm seeing is that Kidani is opening in 2 phases in 2009.

Turns out I'm not short 2 points, I'll have 4 left! Woohoo! As much as I'd love a savannah view room, just the 1br's at AKV are a miracle for us as I've discovered they'll not only sleep all of us, but they have a second bathroom. I've said for a while that we don't really need the space in a 2br, but we could use the extra bathroom!

As it goes for all resorts, the time of year will be the main factor in determining what you can get at the 7 month mark. We were able to book any category studio at the 7 month mark at AKV for our early July stay. Lucky? Maybe. I don't know. The only place we haven't been able to get at the 7 month mark is VWL in early December--don't laugh, I didn't even bother trying!:rotfl:

That's why we own at VWL....we love early December there! But we've done it so often we want to do something different.

I've never had a problem booking at 7mo. but as I haven't been reading here lately I didn't really know what the word was on AKV. Anyone know actual months for when Kidani opens?

Thanks for the input!

No one seems to know when Kidani will open yet. The guides are saying "in 2009", which is no help at all. I'm sure we will all find out about the same time when it's either announced on the DVC website or in the Disney Files magazine.

the 1br's at AKV are in the Jambo house - which does NOT include the second bathroom.

you definitely need to wait for Kidani.

have not had a problem getting a standard studio - so expect you will find the same. Most DVCers seem to want the savannah view.

the Jambo House does sleep 5 in the standard view - so that is still okay - just not the second bathroom.

also don't like the bathroom set up. no separate shower and whirlpool tub - this is a combination. so no using them together.:worried:

we have tried to get in to AKV this year, i leave in 25 days :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: and tried to transfer to AKV from SSr at the 7 month window but nothing available.
i hope it will be different when kidani opens.

we bought into SSR just before AKV was announced. i love AKV and would have bought there instead if i had known. being from the UK we have to book into a resort as far in advance as possible so will always need to change resorts if we do not want to stay at SSR.

I just booked a 1bd standard for a week in March 2009. The value (my 1st choice) was booked, as was Savannah view. I think the standard view will be much easier to book than the BW standard view.
