I was just reading another thread and now I am wondering about this. When Kidani opens will the "splash" water play area be open to ALL guests, or just DVC? Obviously DVCers at Jambo can use it, but what about AKL guests? I can't work out from the drawings how big that area will be, but it sounds like it could potentially be very crowded!

DS12 probably won't care one way or the other, I am just curious!

:confused3 Pure speculation on my part here, but I imagine it will be like SAB at Y&BC, so open to AKL and AKV:confused3

I for one CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IT!

I would think all guest. All of the combo resorts have the amendities available to all guest no matter if you are staying via CRO or DVC. I see nothing changing in this pattern.

I went to the DVC West Coast party a few weeks ago and they showed us some sketches for this new water area and said that it was going to be like SAB: no pool hopping :worried:

I thought guests at WL could not use the VWL quiet pool and would of thought the same would apply to Kidani Village ie normal AKL guests could not use the Kidani Village pool?

Claire ;)

Just the way I feel, think, too!!

PS. Within a resort the pool is open to everyone. Imagine if VWL people couldn't use the pool at WL!

From what I heard, no It will only be available for DVC members. The plan is for all CRO reservations to be put in Jambo House and that you will have to show your room key.

Really? There won't be CRO rooms at Kidani? That would be interesting!
I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens when it actually opens. I think that would be a huge draw for people to stay at AKL and then use the Kidani pool/splash area. But if member dues are paying for that splash area I think I might not be very pleased with all the hotel guests having free access. :confused3

It doesn't seem like CRO rooms will only be in Jambo house. That would really limit the number of rooms for cash reservations. It would also severely limit the number of rooms in the value and club level availability for DVC points usage. I don't think that can be right. Besides, I can't see Disney letting a 2 bedroom in Kidani go empty when they can get upwards of $500/night for it!

To be honest I don't think there are many rooms for 'cash' and there are certainly enough Savanna units in Jambo to cover this. I also seriously doubt value ever get into cash status and certainly not concierge.

I don't mean right now, I mean after Kidani is open. There has to be some rooms left for developer inventory. Those are the room used for trades, etc. If all of Kidani is for DVC inventory only, then that will leave only Jambo villas for developer inventory. Those would be the rooms people can see online through CRO when they are told there is no availability through DVC. While many DVCers would probably prefer to stay at Kidani, I'm sure there are some who may just prefer Jambo.

I would love for it to be DVC only but my guess is everyone will enjoy it although the walk from Jumbo House will probably keep most visitors away.

May I ask, what is the source for this information?

I tend to agree.

Functionally they could take rooms entirely from Jambo for trades and such, but there's no way to manipulate what is made available at the 60-day breakage window.

With inventory tracked separately, they will know exactly how many vacant rooms exist at Kidani throughout the entire booking window. It would seem to do a disservice to owners to allow unbooked Kidani rooms to simply sit empty rather than opening them up to CRO. When non-members book rooms in the breakage period, a large portion of the fees go to offset member dues.
