Akv question

We are new members to akv. Our first stay will be in July. I was looking for a little help. I've read some people request a dedicated or lock off studio? What are these really? I have a studio at AKV and then a 1 bdrm at BCV. Thanks!

A dedicated studio is a studio that doesn't have a connecting door to another room (1 bedroom). A lock-off studio is one that does have the connecting door. The reason that some people prefer the decidated studio is because there are some layout differences to the room because of the connecting door. i.e. the room has less usable wall space because of the door. I think (I haven't stayed in one yet) that there is less closet space in the rooms with the connecting door.

I don't think people are talking about dedicated/lock off studios. I believe they are talking about 2 bedroom villas and the studio portion either being a dedicated or a lock off. A two bedroom villa is basically a one bedroom and a studio combined by a doorway that may be locked if it's a lock off and rented as 2 seperate units. A dedicated 2 bedroom only has 1 door to the hallway and the studio portion has 2 queens instead of of a queen and pull-out.
I may be wrong but this is my understanding.

As "Donald is #1" said a lockoff studio has a connecting door to a 1BR (to make a 2BR lockoff) and a dedicated studio has no connecting door. In place of the door, most of the dedicated studios at AKV have a little broom closet to store the vacuum cleaner, ironing board, etc. plus a small amount of hanging space. In the studios without a closet, they put all those things in one side of the armoire. Based on the floor plans, some of the dedicated studios do not have the broom closet and some of the lockoff studios do have a closet so getting a dedicated studio at AKV does not guarantee you a closet but the odds are pretty good. It's not a huge space, but every bit helps since otherwise everything (including all your stuff) has to be squeezed into the armoire.

I was doing the happy dance yesterday. We got our confirmation and we have a ded studio so I thought we'd get the extra closet......we really need the space. Now....I'm back where I was .... just waiting to see

I told DM I was taking what ever one had the better view and more room or I was just going to send DD and her Friend over with them and really solve the issue.
