okay help me decide between a savannah view studio at akv or deluxe studio at vwl. i've never stayed at vwl or the main lodge before so would like to try something new but after looking at photos, the studios seem out dated or maybe the photos are. i just stayed at akv savannah view studio last month and absolutely loved it. pros and cons btwn them. which to choose for a 5 day trip?

I've stayed in studios at both and would choose AKV in a heartbeat (of the 2 sections at AKV, I prefer Jambo). You're closer to the food and there's a community hall and lots of activities at AKV. VWL-not so much. And I LOVE watching the giraffes, ankole cattle, zebras, and all the animals.

We really like AKV but we  Love the VWL
It's all about the outdoor spaces for us and the VWL has plenty of that. The two pools, 3 hot tubs, the beach, the marina, the walking trail over to Fort Wilderness and more. The views are lovely looking over Bay Lake, quite enjoy the evening Electrical Water pageant and the easy boat transport to MK. Also you have easy access to all the Restaurants at the Monorail Resorts. I could go on and on. The villas themselves are fine, don't feel they are outdated. Comfy and clean, haven't had any issues

What about other transportation at vwl? To epcot, dhs, ak and dtd. Do they share buses with other resorts?

Candice, we may be in luck- they answered our VWL Bus transport question on this thread

I'm absolutely stoked to try a new resort! :cool1:

I prefer AKV, it is so much more unique and an experience on it's own. I would choose WLV for the ease of transportation to the MK during a busy time like at Christmas.

The conflict is as follows:

We are 4 friends who meet up at wdw a couple of times a year for laughs and a great time. I live in FL, Candice lives in PA, Pete & Wellz live in NJ. As you can see, we come from all over to enjoy our trips together. We've stayed in sooo many of the resorts Our favorite is AKV. We love love love the resort but something keeps pulling us to try something new (thus the feelers about VWL ;)) We're just nervous we won't like it as much as AKV :scratchin

We love VWL, so this is obviously a biased opinion. Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge were designed by the same architect. So if you like the majestic lobby, the nooks and crannies and exploring a wonderful resort, I think you'll like WL/VWL very much. Partypa provides some good reasons why. :)

Bottom line is that great friends will be together at WDW. So you know you will have a great trip. Now it's just time to see if you want to explore a new resort, or stay at one that you already know you like. You really can't make a bad choice, can you?

Enjoy! :)

 very nice post and we feel the same.

I'd say if you've stayed at AKV before then go for VWL! We own at AKV and absolutely love it. We have primarily stayed at Kidani in the past but never had a chance to stay at VWL. It is at the top of our list to try, so next time we get the opportunity we will try it out. We have walked around the grounds and absolutely love it! The theming is wonderful.

PS if you haven't done so already, take a day and go DVC resort hopping. We did this once and it was an awesome way to check out all the DVC resorts and see where we might want to stay on future visits!

fall - so would go with VWL.

fall and winter generally have the parks open for less hours - so being close to even one popular park is a plus.

Disney is already going back on hours in August.

Plus at VWL you are not far from other resorts - boat ride to CR/BLT then take the monorail to Polyn, GF and a boat ride to FW.

while AKV is very nice - at night once you have seem the lobby action- there is not a lot.

at vwl you can definitely and fairly easy go visit other resorts.
