Ok guys...I know everyone is waiting for some of the first reports on AKV! I (might) have a chance to change our 2 bedroom bech club ressie to AKingdom in September. Who would do it? Thoughts on pros and cons? I know its hard to say since no one has stayed there yet. I'd love some thoughts on the topic!

Personally I wouldn't want to be in the "first wave". Then add on the construction noise(don't know how bad, but I would not stay in a resort with major construction going on Disney or not if I had the heads up before hand).

If it were me I would not change, BCV for me.

I'm not even going to consider AKV until the whole thing is done in 2009.

If you really enjoy being the first, and a lot of people do, go for it. :woohoo: There may be some noise and they are working the weekends. I would think that the noise would be greater for people on the 4th floor below the construction. As they finish a section, they move away or down the hall from the completed rooms. My bigger concern would be the new construction smell. :snooty: I don't care for glue/paint smell. We will wait a while for the VOCs to dissipate.

Starr has a point, the construction will get worse before it gets better.

Your saving grace is that you are planning a Sept. trip. At that time I believe only the Zebra Trail will be available which will be away and not visable from the new building construction and the interior construction will be on the other wing at that point.

I am going to stay at AKL the first five nights and then move to BWV. I want to be one of the first to stay there. My boys don't take naps anymore , so the noise during the day isn't a concern for me. If you are there Sept. 25 - 30 maybe we will see you.

The part we would be staying in should be finished? That would be awesome because we have a little one who will be napping during the day. I always bring a sound machine anyway when we travel to black out new/different noises. The location on the zebra trail looks great for access to ammenities and pools. Any opinons?

I love the thought of being one of the first to stay at AKV and am still toying with the idea of switching our October ressie. But I think the logistics of our touring plans might discourage a stay at AKV. What parks/activities are you planning for this trip? Will location affect your plans? (i.e. if you plan on spending most of your time at Epcot and SAB, I'd stick with BCV)

This trip, we will be venturing outside the bubble to go to Universal for the first time and OKW is better situated for driving over there. But I'm still tempted by the newness of AKV. Then again, that's the beauty of DVC. We will certainly take another WDW vacation (and another, and another!) and AKV will be there, ready and waiting for us whenever we're ready -- 7-month availability gods permitting, of course.

Well... that is what the plan is, from the map and what people are reporting guides are saying, but we all know how construction goes. :rolleyes1
There are units that are planned to open earlier so it is reasonable.

Zebra trail is a a good location. That is the side the pool and Mara (CS) is on so it is an easy elevator ride down to that area.

Bumping because I had the exact same thought...

Although we aren't going until 8/08:sad1: , but I was still considering swapping a few days at BCV for AKV. If you do go ahead and do this, I'm dying to know the good, the bad, and the ugly!

We just purchased AKV 2 days ago. We will be using this years points next August at Grand Californian. Then in October we will go for AKV. We are trying to hold off and wait until the pool in done. So to answer your question
I would personally wait so I could have the whole experience.
