Going to AKV Jambo in 25 days  It will be our first time there. We booked a studio savannah view.

We are doing the Wayanama Safari tour. Is there anything else special that I should know about: things to see or do at the resort??

Thanks

Mimmie:)

You will love the wanyama safari, and the Jiko meal that's included. Try Boma for dinner, and also the excellent buffet breakfast there. And take time to just absorb the sights, smells, and sounds of the lobby, and be transported away :cloud9:.

If you have kids traveling with you definitely bring them over to the Kidani pool area. My kids LOVED it!

There are two events in Simba's Cubhouse, one for any age, one for over 13 yo. I forget which days-
Jewelry Making-I THINK it's Tuesday and Saturday, anytime between 10:00 and 1:00.

Ceramics painting-it was on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, same times as above. This one's for any age. As you can see, there's a VERy wide variety available of things to paint-

I just signed up for the Wanyama Safari in September, so please let me know how it is.

When we were there in January, they had the night vision binoculars out for viewing every night at 9:30 at the viewing area by the pool.

Jambo has one of the best gift shops, I think. Zanawaa Marketplace(?) I bought my Disney Dooney & Bourke purse there! :thumbsup2

We own at AKV and have stayed there several times. WE LOVE IT!!!!

Seriously, it's a vacation in itself.

And you will love the Wanyama Safari. We did it in 2009 and it was worth every penny. We got SO close to the animals that I had to use all my restraint not to reach out and touch them. (They tell you not to touch the animals.) I so wanted to pet the giraffes!

The pool is great and has its own animal viewing areas. Plus there are viewing areas around different parts of the resort where you can just sit and watch the animals.

I like the Jambo pool better than Kidani, but I would recommend heading over to Kidani to eat at Sanaa. It's a new fave restaurant for us.

Here are some pics!

I did the Safari this past September and loved it! It was amazing to get that close to the animals and the dinner was very special. I am a bit of an AKV fanboy though :cool1:

Allow time to totally explore the resort.

Take binoculars.

Eat Zebra Domes.

Look for hidden Mickeys.

Take lots of inside, detail photos, as well as outside.

Thanks for all the replies. There is so much to do there. This is part of my animal crazy DD's 21st birthday celebration. Looks like she (and of course me) is going to love it!!!

I completely agree! We also own at AKV and it's a resort all unto itself. We have such a great time there and I don't even think we take advantage of all the things it has to offer! We haven't done the safari, is that the one that is only available on conceirge level? I haven't tried Saana yet, but Boma and it's breakfast buffet is my fav! They have the best french press coffee there that I have ever tasted!
