AKV Kidani Room Request...Zebra and Giraffe trails???

I called today to make my room requests for our upcoming trip to AKL Kidani Village (1br villa savanna view). After looking over posts here and elsewhere, I found there were 2 savannas: Sunset and Pembe. Sunset was the entire inside of the "W" shaped building and Pembe was on the outer part of the "W" nearer the pool area. Giraffes could only be found on the sunset savanna.

So I called to put in these requests: Sunset Savanna; 2nd floor; near lobby.

The CM then told me that ALL the savanna view rooms were Sunset savanna and he knew nothing of the Pembe savanna. He said the choices he could enter in for me were either "Giraffe trail" (the portion of the W closest to Jambo, to the right of the lobby) or "Zebra trail" (the portion of the W closest to the pool, to the left of the lobby).

I had only heard of Giraffe and Zebra trails as views associated with Jambo, so this was new to me.

We've never stayed at AKL before so I didn't know anything other than what I had read here on the DIS boards.

So can anyone here with Kidani Village experience tell me if this is indeed true? All the savanna views face the sunset savanna now, with choices between left of the lobby ("zebra trail") and right of the lobby ("giraffe trail"). Is the pembe savanna now classified as non-savanna view?? Or was the CM confusing Jambo and Kidani?

I stayed at AKL Kidani last year and stayed in the Pembe Savanna(to the left of the lobby if you back is to the front door). I requested a high floor, which I got, and was all the way at the end of the savanna . My view was fine and I saw giraffes, zebras, etc. from my balcony on a daily basis. I had a really good zoom lens, so I was able to take pictures of the giraffes from pretty far off. They came about half way into the Pembe Savanna.

I really don't think it matters which savanna you stay on. Whatever you can't see from your balcony, you can see from the outside viewing stands that they have off the lobby. There is a map of AKL Kidani on the web that you can google to get an idea of how the savannas are set up.

The cm is definitely mixing up Jambo & Kidani. Kidani has 2 savannas - Sunset & Pembe. Pembe is small, I would request Sunset. The only room area designations I've heard is based on the elevator banks. I stayed on the side closest to Jambo about half way down the hall, it was the Rafiki elevator area.

Thanks for the response. That's exactly what I was afraid of - the CM was mixing up Jambo and Kidani. So now should I call back or do you think "giraffe trail" would suffice to mean "sunset savanna"? Seems every time I call, I get put on hold 20 min or so and I dread having to take the time and then possibly get a CM that could mess up our reservation.

I believe if you do online check-in, it will give you a choice of savannas.
