Hi, I own at AKV and in October I have 8 nights booked at Kidani and then another 7 nights at Jambo house, I am going to change one of the bookings to VWL I am trying to decide which week to change so I was wondering if we were staying at Jambo house can we still use the pool at Kidani?

I was just checking that out on the DVC website, and according to the information there yes you can!

The new AKV pool is restricted to those staying at AKL or AKV, similar to Stormalong Bay at the BCV.

The last I heard the Kidani pool was not going to be open to AKL guests only those staying in AKV DVC accommodations (MS or CRO), has that changed?

The OP is a DVC member - staying on points I assume - so she should be able to use the Kidani pool if she is at Jambo house.

This is what is posted on the DVC Website under AKV F.A.Q.

Will Disney Vacation Club Members staying at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas be able to enjoy the amenities at both locations?
Yes, Members and their Guests staying at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas will be able to enjoy the amenities of both Jambo House and Kidani Village, regardless of in which building they are staying.

Thanks, that is great to know as my DD really wants to use the Kidani pool. We will be staying on points.

Anyone know when the pool will be open, or is it already? I'm trying to find pics. of it as a friend of ours has DVC and we're using her points to stay there at the end of May!

The resort opens May 1 and we've been eagerly awaiting pool pics too. :surfweb:

I have never heard of them making such a distinction.

There will be cash guests at both Kidani and Jambo. I can't see Disney taking any steps to limit access to only Kidani cash guests and not Jambo cash guests. In fact, I don't see them even going to the trouble of using a SAB-type wristband system. Unless overcrowding becomes an issue there probably won't be any enforcement.

I had seen it posted that the break of was between staying in AKV (both cash and points) and AKL. I have not seen it confirmed in writing, I had seen the same arrangement posted about BLT.

Are the buildings Jambo and Kidani close to each other? Can you walk from one to the other and to the pool as well?

The buildings are not that far apart but since you cannot cross the savanna you have to take the long way around to get from one to the other. The distance between the main entrances of each building is about 1/2 mile. To get to the pool will be another 1/8 of a mile or so? If you happen to be staying at the end of one of the long hallways at Jambo and want to go to the Kidani pool, it could be over 3/4 of a mile.

The yellow line on this drawing shows the route you would walk to get from the end of the Kudu Trail in Jambo House to the far end of Kidani Village. When looking across the savanna those two points are pretty close together but the walk from one to the other would be about a mile!

Just to add another option... I read somewhere that to get to Kidani from Jambo, you can take any 'park' bus. The first stop from Jambo will be Kidani. To get back, you would take a DTD bus from Kidani and the first stop is Jambo.

The bus loop is the other way around. Park buses will stop at Kidani first then Jambo. DTD buses go in the opposite direction - Jambo first, then Kidani.

I changed our first week to VWL and our 2nd week will be at AKV at Jambo house - I did try and change to Kidani however they had no savannah views left. Its good to know we can use the pool at Kidani still as DD will definitely want to try it out after seeing the drawings.
