The $8 credit is not presented well at all in my opinion.

All my papers showed the $104 per credit...It is poorly presented by DVC..

On another sheet, you must first sign and "assign" DVC the right to "use the credit" against your down payment. Then when DVC receives that paper, your cash balance owed is at closing is reduced...Some members I guess choose to receive a large Disney Gift Card instead, but in my case I wanted my balance due to be reduced...

IMHO, shocked to see such terrible presentation of closing doc figures! Be careful when reviewing your final numbers!

I just got mine today too. I'm paying cash and no where on the paperwork (besides the authorization form to use the GC towards down payment) does it tell me how much I really owe. I figured it out and mailed the check with the GC applied to the balance.

Indeed!! I told my guide about this problem with both of my contracts this summer. She told me that many people had complained about it and that the "document prep team" was working on a solution.

Guess they haven't figured one out yet!
:rolleyes1

This is done a lot in business and I don't really know why. Your cost was $104 per point. My cost was $104 per point. You may have been given a $8 per point credit and I may have been given a $6 per point credit but we still paid $104 per point on paper.

I noticed the same thing on commercials for new cars. The price is $26,000, but you get a $6000 manufacturers rebate. They won't just lower the price to $20000, the price is $26000 and your contract lists the price as $26000.

I would guess that it's an accounting/valuation thing.

I just got my paperwork in the mail today too for my 100 pt add-on. I know it says that $800 is due by September 10th for the down payment, but I'm also signing the $800 "Disney Gift Card" to be applied to the down payment. I don't have to send in an add'l $800, right? The gift card takes care of that, right? Sorry if this is a stupid question - so confusing! :(

Yes, that would be correct that the $800 is being applied to the balance due and you don't have to pay that. That's they way both of my contracts were. You can ask a QAM for sure.

Thanks for the quick response. That's what I figured, and it makes total sense - just red tape and paperwork that leads to the confusion. I trust DVC, so I figured that's what it was. Very psyched about getting the package today!!!!!

Disney the "right" to use the Disney Visa toward your balance due.

Make sure it specifies Disney Visa..I've heard there are 2 ways to do it..
I personally would want the credit to be applied to my balance due, but there are those who want a Disney Rewards Gift Card.

Good luck!:goodvibes

I don't think Disney Visa is correct. That is a Chase consumer credit card and has nothing to do with DVC specifically. We are talking two different incentives actually.

The $8 per point discount is the form of a "Disney Gift Card" and is assigned to DVC and applied against the deposit or the final balance due. Another option of that incentive is to receive the Disney Gift Card but you would pay the full deposit and balance due with no per point discount.

The Disney Visa Rewards is a separate incentive altogether. If you were to pay the deposit with your Disney Visa credit card, the credit card is offering to give you bonus rewards dollars. That gets credited to your rewards point balance after closing.
(still waiting for mine from June)

Clear as mud? I just can't imagine why all the confusion.

We are new to DVC (still waiting for closing to be over  )
But, yes- As Disneynutz stated as an analogy-
In car sales where the rebate is $6000- your sale price is still $26000- that amount minus trade credit allowance and any dealer "discount" is used to calculate tax and fees- then the rebate is applied and taken off and after fees, taxes and trade difference you get your total to purchase, finance, and so on
same as at the store w/ a coupon- taxes are calculated on full price and then coupon is applied at the end- you don't get 50 cents off and then tax calculated- same scenario-
for taxes, closing and such the full point value is still shown and after the credit per point is shown- w/ the way Disney is doing it by "issuing" a gift card- you must sign that gift card back over to them giving them the "right", in other words, agreeing and confirming that this is how you'dlike to use the money towards balance due- if not then balance due from your pocket is more and you would have the gift card for... whatever? That is only thing that I didn't ask about as to what it could be used for,or where, if I opted to pay OOP the full amount- Hope this explains
