How are the rooms facing the pools? Is it noisy?
Actually if you are going in April before April 15, 2009, you could end up with a view of a savanna but one with no animals in it. Between Jan 15 and April 15, the Sunset savanna will not have animals most or all of the day. As a result, DVC is treating all the normally "savanna" view rooms that face that savanna (those on the outer left side of the U-shaped Jambo building) as standard view point cost, and you could end up in one of those.
Standard View rooms are those marked in yellow in the picture contained in post #3. They will not have a savanna view.We booked a standard view unit because we wanted the pool view. Does this mean we could actually end up with a view of an empty savannah just because we booked standard? Not too happy to hear this. Do you think if we check in early we may have a better chance for the pool view? We have a 2-bedroom and a 1-bedroom booked.
If you booked a Standard View then that is what you will get and as JaxFLBear said you will be facing the pool area. If you booked a Savanna View for some time between 1/15/09 and 4/15/09 then you might end up looking at an empty savanna in which case you will be charged the Standard View rate.We booked a standard view unit because we wanted the pool view. What drusba was saying it that they are going to give a credit to those that have rooms on the Sunset Savanna to make the points equal to a Standard View room. This is because of the removal of the animals from the Sunset Savanna. This will be in effect from 1/15/2009 to 4/15/2009 and the credit will be issued after the stay. Thanks Lisa and JaxFLBear! The way I read that post from drusba it sounded like Disney was changing the rooms on the sunset savannah to standard view and we could get those just because we booked standard view. I'm glad to know I misunderstood. Whew! Thanks again!![]()
Thanks for that information. That is different than what they told people originally but I think it is probably easier for them to manage things the way you describe. There will be no last minute disappointments at check in for those who booked a Savanna View room and no need to return points after their stay. Although now there will be people who booked a Standard View expecting a pool view who end up with a view of an empty savanna. My understanding is different from talking to MS (which of course may itself be incorrect -- and very often is because you don't whether the person you are talking to really knows). As noted, those who order savanna view for that three month down period and end up with Sunset during that period will be offered a return of points so they pay only standard view point cost. However, I was also told that they stopped taking "savanna" view reservations for days where existing ressies would fill savanna view other than Sunset and are reserving those Sunset rooms now (meaning about three weeks ago when I called) as standard view to the extent there are vacancies during that three month down period.

AKV's Value 1BRs sleep four but the Standard View, Savanna View and Concierge 1BRs sleep five because they have both a sleeper sofa and a sleeper chair in the living area. The Value 1BRs sleep four because they are smaller rooms and there isn't enough room for both a sleeper sofa and sleeper chair.I was wondering if the one bedroom standard room sleeps four or can it fit 5?
