AKV & Hilton Head in October

So here's my thoughts! We usually use our points every 2 to 3 years spending 2 weeks+ at our home resort of AKV (Kidani) in the month of October. Coming from Scotland it's a great time to go as our schools have 2 weeks holidays + the weather in Orlando is great and crowds are quite low. We hadn't planned to go in 2015 - as we were there in Oct 2013 - but as it will the last year DD1 can go with us at that time of year we are considering spending 1 week at AKV and then 1 week at HH.We never have any problem in booking AKV but wondered what our chances are of getting reservation at HH at the 7 month window? Should we initially book full 2 weeks at AKV and then change 1 week to HHI at 7 month? We would prefer 2 bed? Plan would be to fly in/out of Orlando and drive up to South Carolina - which seems pretty straightforward. How does this sound? What are the pros/cons? How is HH in October? Sorry lots of questions but I know somebody will have the knowledge!

Sounds great! You really should not have any problem getting a 2 bedroom at HHI at 7 months during October. Most schools in the US are in session so the resort does not fill to capacity. Weatherwise I would think it would be very nice for HHI - great for riding bikes and taking part in the many activities. Ocean water may be turning a tad cold to swim, but then again my DS was swimming in the ocean at HHI in April when it was only about 65 so it may be just fine for some of yours too... I bet the beach will be very nice and not many people on it! All the resort pools are heated so swimming in them will not be a problem.

And yes traveling by car from Orlando to HHI is very easy and about 5 hours if I am remembering correctly when we did that very thing.

Hilton Head is awesome in October. It is a great place to relax and enjoy the beach, and the beach house is awesome. If you play golf it is the place to go. We have always gone in October and booked 7 months out without a problem. We switched our kids school schedule though, so no more October for us (at least for a week). We will be trying to get in next year in mid May.
