AKV HA roll in shower booking issues.

Can someone help me or explain the roll in shower situation at AKV?

My story:

I am taking my brother, mother, and brothers girlfriend with my husband son and I next fall. My brother is in a power wheelchair and needs a Hoyer lift and rolling shower chair in his bathroom. Because he needs his equipment and certain things set up I was going to let him and his girlfriend have the studio and we would be in the one bedroom. Apparently MS can not get me a a 2 bedroom in either Kidani or Jambo with a roll-in shower in the studio portion. However when I go to book a studio w roll in shower separately there is availability at both Jambo and Kidani. The only dedicated 2 bed at Jambo with the roll in shower is booked, but rollin shower studios are available. I know Jambo has dedicated rooms but I though Kidani did not.

I would book 2 separate rooms but it is 30+ more points that way as opposed to the 192 points for a 2 bed it comes out to over 220pts. There has to be a solution? I don't care if the 1 bedroom is also HA accessible as long as the studio is. Am I doing something wrong?

Jambo has no dedicated 2BRs. All of Jambo's 2BRs are lockoffs. Kidani does have dedicated 2BRs.

I don't have any HA room info for Kidani but here is a list of what I believe are the only rooms in Jambo House that have a roll-in shower instead of a tub:

5456: Studio, Standard View, Zebra Trail, Pool View

5319: 1BR, Savanna View, Kudu Trail facing Arusha

5483: Grand Villa, Zebra Trail facing Uzima. Roll-in shower is in master bathroom.

6202: 1BR Club Level facing Sunset Savanna

We were actually told by both the DVC salespeople and by DVC booking that we should try to only book at Kidani Village because we need a roll in shower for our daughter. There are more and they are set up better.
The Kidana 1 bedrooms have 2 bathrooms - both are huge; the 2 bedrooms have 3 bathrooms. One is in the Studio/2nd bedroom part and the other 2 are in the 1bedroom part.
We stayed in a 1 bedroom, so I can't tell you anything about the Studio part.

Right, thank you. I am aware of that as I have stayed in both Kidani and Jambo 1 bedrooms. It's the 2 bedroom with the connecting studio with roll in shower that they are not being clear on. Tia!

Just in case it's helpful, room 5456 (the only studio in Jambo House with a roll-in shower) connects to room #5454 (the 1BR). As mentioned above, it's a Standard View room facing the pool area. Based on SueM's information, it sounds like Kidani would be the better option for you. Either way, I hope MS can sort something out for you.

i don't know if this is the case at other resorts, but, at our home resort OKW, it appears most of the accessible rooms with roll in showers are lock off. Almost all of the 2 bedroom accessible villas we have stayed in at OKW have been lock offs with both parts accessible (and also other places - although we mostly stay at OKW).
If that is the case also at other reports, that could be part of your issue. The one bedroom part of the accessible room may already be reserved. That would leave studios, but not the attached one bedroom part.

If you are looking at next fall, you are still pretty far out and availability might change. Hopefully, Member Services can help you out.

Thank you! This is all good to know. We have the one studio in jambo booked that has a roll in shower and I guess we will book the one bed seperatley even though it is more points for peice of mind but I wish it didn't have to be that way. I wish they could just book it for me as a 2 bedroom and gaurantee the studio roll in!!
