I was told that there is a photographer at AKV that can do a family photo shoot. Has anyone done this, or know anything about it?

Thanks.

You can pay for a family shoot at almost all parks or resorts through the Photo Pass desks. We did it at the Grand Floridian last year.

On our trip in Oct 09, I talked with a photopass photographer in the Jambo lobby. Not sure how often they are there, but they apparently do go there.

We went in Aug. While at WL for dinner we notice the pp photographer in the lobby. She took a ton of pics of all of us (6 in all) and added them to our photo card. She did individual shots of each child, all of them together and then some of DH and I. They came out really nice. We had preordered the pp at the time. We used them for our holiday photos and have them hanging in the LR. I usually go to Jcpenny's for the portaits but these came out soo much better. Next time I am going to plan coordinating outfits instead of t's.

On the akv wkly sheet they noted that it is also available at AKL lodge for the shoots too.

Soo glad I didn't pay for the photos sessions that they offer. Got a much better deal.

We did just a couple of weeks ago now. It was very nice. Expensive, but nice. You do pretty much need a reservation. You can call from home to make it (what we did), or inquire upon check-in. At AKV the desk is in the Jambo House lobby.

Evelyn was our photographer, and she did a fine job. The outdoor shots came out MUCH better than anything indoors. There were about 6 or 7 different locations, both in and out, that she guided us too and then grouped us by my family alone, with the folks, just the folks, the folks with the kids, and then just the kids at pretty much each location. We did also get several of the kids invidually. In total there were about 75 or 80 pics taken. Prior to going to WDW it my mom's idea to get a "good family picture", so I researched it and decided we'd try this out. And since it was her idea/request, she happily paid for it, so that was cool. With the DVC discount it was $79 + tax, but we got the CD with all of the pics, plus we got to pick a package of prints (3 different ones to choose from) that we split evenly with my folks.

Now since I also have the copyright release by purchasing the CD, I can burn a copy of the CD for my mom as well. Evelyn also gave us the PhotoPass card that she used, and we can add them to the rest of our PhotoPass pics from around the parks when order that CD. With the exception of the few prints provided that morning - none of them can be manipulated on the CD we received. But by Evelyn giving me the PhotoPass card she used, I was able to import them into our online album of other pics taken in the parks and manipulate them by adding the various year or character logos to the pics that she took.

Personally I wouldn't pay for BOTH, but since my mom paid for one and I paid for one and we're going to both have copies of everything...it worked out just fine.

What number do we call to set this up before hand? I thought we could call starting at 30 days before our reservation stay. We are staying at Kidani in May (have stayed at AKL several times before but not Kidani) and we love the theming at AKL. We really want to get family pictures done on this trip and thought this was a great idea above and beyond the theme park pics.

I don't remember the number to call, but when I was looking at that possibility I found info and the number to call on the Member website, under the section about perks/discounts, etc. It's called PhotoPortrait, and there's a list of the resorts that offer it, as well as the number to call.

We did this in June and were pleased. Unfortunately there were a few pics with some intruders in the background, but I knew that would be inevitable.

You don't really need to call. I doubt they get completely booked up. We just saw the desk and DW inquired and then made a reservation.

It seems there are 2 ways to do this: Reserved package and a regular PP if in lobby of hotel.

We did the reserved session at GF a few years ago, and it was ok. There was glare and wind and such, and the locations around the resort weren't that great. We had bought the CD, so we got those pics added to our CD for the promo price of $25.00 The new package now seems to include prints, and a CD of that photo session, but it costs $80.00?

We are still contemplating doing this only because we want to get pics of all of us - we have better equipment than the PP, and we aren't big fans of PP itself, as many of the pics are not that great.
