AKV dues

We are new members at Akv & haven't seen a bill for dues or updated info on the site yet in our account. We chose to pay annually though & was told when we started the process that we'd get a prorated bill prob in may, for this year.

I just called MS yesterday to make my monthly payment by CC (a day late...eeek..i just got back from my Disney vacay...)

Anyway, dues for Kidani are due June 1 and are prorated for this year. I own 160 points and my total for dues (again pro-rated for 2009) is $521.46.

Bills will likely be sent around May.

I haven't set my payments up for withdrawl yet, so I'll have to pay the whole amount for dues by June 1 (easy day to remember my b-day).

That would be almost $4.89 per point. Wouldn't the dues be $519.52?

Prorated cost: $64.94 * 8 months = $519.52

DVC pro-rates by the day not by the month. There are 245 days from May 1 - Dec 31.

245/365 * 160 * $4.8554 = $521.4566.... which rounds to $521.46

But isn't current year price point $4.87, not $4.86 (rounded)?


Well that just figures. Of course Disney would do it in a way that sqeaks out every possible penny!

Why is everyone dividing by 8? If you start paying June 1, isn't that 7 months you would pay in 2009?

Sorry, I just called and while I had the MS Accounting operator on the phone, I asked what my amount was for dues for this year....that's what she told me -- straight from her computer screen.

Dues are pro-rated starting May 1st. The payment isn't due until later (June 1st? June 15th?) but the pro-rated period will start on May 1st.

When I add up all the numbers on my dues statement it comes out to $4.8554. That is also the number posted on tjkraz's site (dvcnews.com): http://dvcnews.com/content/view/756/231/ He has a great table on that page showing the budget breakdown for all the DVC resorts.
