AKV Counter Service

I just don't get this 'inconvenience'. It's only a 5-10 minute walk! I don't understand why anyone would want to drive over; there are often spaces in the Kidani car park closer to Jambo main entrance than any free spaces in the Jambo car park.

Still, if it keeps folk away then it makes it easier for me to book. I love Kidani as it is.

To me, it's not really a bother if you want to eat at the restaurant. But what you really cannot do is order any hot food items and take them back to your room.

My wife and I have done that at other resorts when it just isn't worth the effort of getting the entire family decent to go out for a meal. Sometimes the kids are playing or napping in the room, and even the adults really aren't in any condition to go out into public. At most places, one person can bring food for the entire family back to the room. But take-out from Mara would be lukewarm at best if brought back to Kidani.

Our room at Kidani was on the end away from Jambo house. Frankly, it was a bit of a hassle for us just to get to the bus stop.

I know that I am much less physically fit than most, but after walking 5+ miles per day in the parks, walking another 1/2 to 3/4 mile each way just to eat is not at all appealing to me.

Like others, we ended up eating in the parks.

Maybe since so many DVC members eat in their villas, a CS restaurant at a DVC resort would not be very profitable. And many members eat lunch at a CS restaurant before leaving the park or on arrival at a park. And that is by choice, a way to distract the kids and get them away from the attractions before taking a break back at the resort or for changing from one park to another.

For me, the inconvenience is HUGE and the reason that I stayed at Kidani one time, on opening day, and will never stay there again. I travel in a power wheelchair so if I'm caught out in the rain, which happens often in Central Florida then I'm stuck, and I don't want to be. I have a service dog who will shake to dry herself off and I don't want anyone to be in range if that happens! If my batteries are low then also there's no way I'm making the trek to/from Mara and risk having a problem. The resort is beautiful, but without a CS option we won't be back.---Kathy

When we stay at Kidani, I've come to the conclusion that it's just as easy for me to drive down Sherburne (spelling?) Rd straight out to the highway, where there are probably 100 fast food places, than to go to Jambo House.

I realize a lot of visitors don't have a car with them, and I do agree there should be a CS option at Kidani.

While we're on the topic of Mara, the ordering system drives me bonkers. All stations should offer the same items. This business of standing in different lines, or waiting off to the side is crazy. Can you imagine if you had to stand at different registers at McDonald's to order hamburgers, then chicken nuggets, etc?

I love WDW, but their counter service is seriously inefficient. I can understand that in the original MK locations built way back when. Really no excuse in the newer facilities.

Hi,
I love my DVC....I have stayed at most properties....the option of a counter service within a short distance is a real plus.

BWV and BCV have limited CS options....BUT they have them.

Kidani is the only property without one....yes BLT,WLV.etc dosen't have one....but it is a stones throw away.

I am staying at Kidani for only 2 nights....so I am doing Sanaa, Boma and Jiko..so no CS won't be an issue.

But I would probably NEVER book a whole trip at AKV kidani because of the no CS option.
I like the option of CS very close.

Kidani has Mara. It's all one resort. South Point doesn't have a CS. Millers Road doesn't have a CS. But they do have Good's to Go. Congress Point doesn't have CS. The Paddock doesn't have CS. The Carousel doesn't have CS. But they do have Artist's Palette.

And that one person is always me!:rotfl: I plan on doing some extra grocery shopping so I don't have to walk back and forth this trip. AKV is actually going to save me money and time from buying from the CS.
