We are booked in AKV Savannah view for the end of April and I know there is construction going on and we might have some disturbance from it. I am fine with that, I live in the city ;)

But I read on another thread that they would be going to 24 hour construction??? Does that seem right?? I would think this would make a larger impact on guests - esp at night and trying to sleep. :confused3

How big of an impact do you think this will actually be? Are there certain areas where the impact would be greater? I don't know much about AKL/AKV in general only having been to the resort twice and that was just to eat.

Any advice/tips/info would be greatly appreciated.

I have been told twice that AKV will be on a 24 hour work schedule for our April trip. Not much you can do about it. We will wait and see if it's a problem. If it is, we will let management know. :santa:

This is totally a guess, but maybe they will go to 24 hr contruction after the outside of the building is up. I would think the grading and exterior contruction will be the noisest. If they restrict the evening/night/early morning construction to the interior of the new buildings, maybe it will not have too bad of an impact.

We were told for our July trip that construction will be 24 hours and could cause noise at night even in the water pipes in Jambo. I don't really understand that part of it...

When I made the reservations no one told me about the 24 hour construction. I knew there would be some and it would be during the day and that I might hear it. Not a big deal in my book, things happen. I live in the city, construction all the time. But the night part baffles me too.

Hopefully it will be interior work. I can't imagine them using the jackhammer at 230am and ticking off a whole resort.

At the Annual Meeting, Jim Lewis stated that they expect to have the Jambo House villas completed in January, 2008 - so trips in April should not be affected by any construction. The Kidani construction will certainly be active, but that is far enough away that it's unlikley to disturb any of the AKL rooms - including DVC villas.

Enjoy your trip.

This may be a dumb question, but how will they keep the construction noise from disturbing the savanna animals? I'd think it could really cause problems for them...:confused3

Well, if you look back at the construction pictures I posted a week ago, you will see the animals actually watching the work. It dosen't seem to bother them at all.

One would think so but the CM at MS said when we made a Jambo reservation for early July 2008, "oh wait I have to read you this" and it was about 24-hour construction noise including noise in the pipes :confused3
Obviously I wasn't concerned enough about it not to book but they are saying there will some noise.

I will be checking in at AKV in early July as well. We booked at 11 months and so far we have not been contacted in any way about the 24 hour thing.

I do think that Doc is right and that the Jambo work will be done in January. It looks like the exterior part of Kidani closest to the lodge is moving along very well. I am not concerned about the noise. I am actually glad that they are pushing to have Kidani completed!

We will be there in May. We booked in August and were just told about construction, nothing about 24 hour construction and pipe noise. I would think this would be mainly at Kidani at this point.

Diane -
Would you mind bumping that thread up, for some reason I am not finding it. I must have missed it the first time and would like to see how things are coming along.

Oh no--- I just switched from SSR to AKLV--- I was told nothing about construction. I wouldn't care, but my husband really wanted SSR, and let me switch to AKL because I thought my 7yo would love the animals.
