Can someone give me details of what the 1 BR's are like compared to
regular Jambo 1BR's??
they are the same. concierge rooms are all on the 6th floor and include access to the concierge lounge. (and daily mousekeeping IIRC.) i think that's about it...
Heard something about bunk beds????
nope. no bunk beds in DVC rooms. only in the AKL (cash) rooms.
You get access to the Concierge Lounge and all it offers - beverages and food, assistance with reservations, ability to reserve the special tours, and daily full room cleaning, including turn down service.
There are only 5 studios and 5 one bedrooms so booking at 11 months is a must. The views from the rooms are a roof view so don't stay there if you want a good view.
The lounge, the everyday full cleaning service and the turn down service is the reason to book CL at AKL. Those things just rule.
Yes, the views are not the best. The Sunset Savannah views are limited with a lot of "utility" like areas within it, but animals do come in there daily - it is connected to the wide open spaces by Kidani. The pool view is nice too. You see what is going on and you do see a little savannah in the distance.
We book CL every year and for us it is worth it. You just have to try it out and see for yourself.
They use to offer soup in addition to the other 2 warm items. According to the resort manager, the soup was removed because all other concierge locations only offer 2 warm items and Disney wanted them to be uniform.
IMHO, you shouldn't stay at the AKL/AKV concierge for the food anyway. It is OK but not that big of a deal. You should consider all of the amenities together as a total package.
