On Monday the 25th (or Tuesday the 26th if we decide on Sunday-Sunday) I can try to book our 2009 Anniversary Trip home to AKV. Since this is a milestone (10 years) anniversary we're going to do it right and are planning to try to get Concierge accomodations for 7 nights. We can come in Saturday to Saturday or Sunday to Sunday (but we prefer Sat-Sat so we get a day of rest and laundry before returning to work).

Assuming we can get KCC for the whole trip then it doesnt' really matter, but if we have to split our time between KCC and non-KCC accomodations, can anyone express an opinion on which days are best - I seem to recall the the Sunrise (or is it Sunset) Safari is only on selected day and you have to be staying on the KCC level to go on that - we definately want to do that.

Any other KCC "perks" that are only offered on certain days? (I know the safari has to be paid for so it's not a true perk but you know what I mean)

Thanks.

The sunrise safari is offered on Sunday and Thursday mornings only. We just came back from AKL/AKV and it was fabulous! We did the sunrise safari on 8/3. :)

Thanks! That's what I was looking for. That sounds like a really wonderful way to start the day!

Has anyone done the Sunset Safari or the "Wilderness Excursion (or whatever that's called)? Since this trip is just us old folks and an anniversary, I'm looking to do more romantic, out of the ordinary, stuff rather than just park park park days (though we'll of course do plenty of those too!)

Any other interesting ideas are very welcome. I seem to recall a thread a while back on non-park stuff to do during a DVC vacation to WDW.

We did the Sunset Safari (official name: Wanyama Safari) in April. It was wonderful. They take you out on the savannas at AKL/AKV so you get very close to all those animals you see from the balcony of your room. It is followed by a group dinner at Jiko. You can do this safari even if you are not staying Concierge but the price is higher. When we did it, it was $160/person for Concierge guests and $220/person for non-Concierge guests. It is offered 3 or 4 days each week but I can't remember which days. We were told it is less crowded during the week than on the weekend. We only had 4 people total on our safari so we were able to move around in the back of the truck to get a good view and take photos.
