What exactly is conceriege level room? What are the benefits of booking a concierge level studio as opposed to a regular studio?

A regular concierge room is just a hotel room. The studio concierge IS a studio with concierge privileges. And there are only 5 studios with concierge. So unless you own at AKV and book at 11 months exactly, you probably won't be getting that room.

I booked a concierge studio during the last week in January using OKW points and also was able to reserve the sunrise/sunset safari.

I didn't want to book it, just wondering what exactly are concierge priveleges.

You get access to a lounge with beverages and snacks (continental breakfast in the am and munchies for the rest of the day) plus the option of booking the sunrise and sunset safaris.

There is aso the itinerary planning office that can assist you with dining reservations, gifts for your family placed in the room upon check in..booking the safari...plus of course as mentioned access to a lounge that is suppose to be wonderful...
and a FYI ..........I was able to book a concierge studio at 7 mths ....and I do not own at AKV:)

(You let the IPO know what kind of gifts...they go shopping...charge your CC:)

Another question....are the concierge rooms more points? If so, how many more points?

Thanks!

We just bought AKV today!!!! I'm still in disbelief!!!

WOO! Congratulations! We just bought last weekend and I'm still in shock. :cool1:

The Concierge rooms are more points. The exact amount is going to vary due to season (magic vs dream for example).
We're hoping to book a studio or 1bd room concierge for June. The sunrise safari will be worth it alone!

Congratulations! There is a point chart for AKV here. The four point levels in the chart (V, S, SV, C) stand for Value, Standard View, Savanna View and Concierge. The Value rooms cost the fewest points because they are smaller rooms. The Standard View are larger rooms, but do not have a savanna view. The Savanna View rooms are the same size as the Standard View, but face a savanna. The Concierge rooms are the same size as Standard View and Savanna View rooms, but cost more because of the extra services.

I'm guessing that there are only 5 conceierge studios now and that there will be more once the new section is completed. At least that's what I'm hoping. DH and I were looking to try AKV in a couple of years and I really wanted concierge to do the sunrise safarie.

Yes...it was in Vacation Magic that you receive daily housekeeping as well:)
I am sure there will be concierge studios in Kidani...however, there are others here who are AKV experts!! :)
Also, concierge does not guarantee a savanna view...you may get a pool view at Jambo House.
Congrats to the new owners:) I am still new...just bought 9/1:)

One thing that can also increase your chances for a studio concierge room is to do a split stay. THat's what we are doing in May. We are staying 5 nights in a SV studio and then changing to a concierge studio for 2 nights. That way we can do the safari even though concierge was not available for our entire stay.

Keep in mind that concerige is NOT guranteed a Savannah View. I have a studio booked for January, but I KNOW that I will be very disappointed without a Savannah view so this is probably the only time I will risk it!

WRONG. The only conceirge rooms will be those lock off units in Jambo House (main lodge). The reason is that they are being converted from the conceirge floor. There will be no conceirge in Kidani Village. It is one of the reasons most of us feel it will become VERY difficult to get once the AKV membership increases with the new building. Of course, true to DVC, they can always change their mind and add it if it looks like tehre is a lot of inerest, but I would doubt it.

We have a 1 bedroom conceirge booked for next March, and we are doing both the Sunrise and sunset safaris. I think the best chance for non-AKV DVC owners to get conceirge level might be now before the real 11/7 month windows open up. This year we could call on a certain date to start reserving, and non-AKV members could call on a later date. I'm going to guess once the real booking windows open, it will be pretty difficult to get.

To clarify, AKV Concierge consists of five 2BR lockoffs (the entire 6th floor of Jambo House) so the number of concierge studios available for a given date will depend on how many of those 2BR lockoffs they split into a 1BR and studio. I expect they will keep at least one 2BR unit intact, so that reduces the number of studios down to four and at times maybe only three.

I am sure there will be concierge studios in Kidani.
As far as offering Concierge in Kidani Village, according to the AKV FAQs page:

There are no Value or Concierge accommodations in Kidani Village

There is an existing Concierge Lounge in Jambo House with costs shared by AKL and AKV guests. To provide concierge accommodations in Kidani Village they would have to build and staff another lounge, funded entirely by DVC guests. Kidani Village will already have a "draw" with the larger rooms, additional bathroom in the 1BRs/2BRs, separate tub and shower in the master bath, etc. If Concierge is very popular, I could more easily see them expanding the number of concierge guests in Jambo House rather than offering concierge rooms in Kidani. They could allow some rooms on the 5th floor to be booked as concierge and provide those guests access to the lounge on the 6th floor, as they have done for AKL concierge guests.

I agree. As the number of AKV owners increases, it will likely get harder and harder to get a concierge villa. Some owners were disappointed to learn that concierge does not guarantee a savanna view, so many opted to book a Savanna View villa for their first stay. I think many more owners will decide to give concierge a try on their next stay. I figured that this first year was my best shot booking my entire stay in concierge, and I'm an owner who can book 11 months out! I'm hoping I don't like it so much that I want to make it a regular thing because I don't need that kind of booking stress!

ITA! That is exactly what my DH and I are afraid of............... (We're going for the week of DH's birthday. :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:)

In my mind it seemed obvious that there would be more in the new section, but we all know what happens when you assume:rolleyes1 Oh well, I would be just as happy to book a Savanah View. The only reason concierge interested me was for the sunrise safari and that wasn't something that I have to do I just thought it would be neat. And I'm pretty sure that DH would rather not get up that early if he doesn't have to.
