AKV Christmas 2007 Can I book tomorrow?

Ok, Im a little confused

I want to book AKV for Dec 23-28, 2007. Do I call tomorrow?

If you're NOT an AKV owner, and availability still exists, you'll be calling on June 6th.

There will probably be good idea of availability for non-owners tomorrow when all the calling is done. I suspect the busy times (like the time you're looking for) could be sold out by the end of the day tomorrow.

We did an add-on at AKV but I apologize for not indicating that important part of my question. You both answered it wonderfully though

I scheduled to have the morning off so I didnt want to take off and then be told I needed to call another day!

Be so kind to book me a stay there Jan. 4th - 8th in a 1 bedroom sav view, if you dont mind, Dont forget, lets make plans for NYE, should we go out to eat this time, or are you going to spoil us again with your great cooking?

JDG, I would call MS and check for sure what building. I know we got in early enough to be on the tapestry (which is another question, no word on that yet?) so I will be calling

What is with the "AND if your building is open"?


I have never seen anything that relates to "if your building is open".

It's easy, AKV owners can call tomorrow and non AKV owners can call in June.

"I THINK" if you have 2007 points this indicates you are in the old section and can book. Once the resort is completed this has no significance.

I agree....don't know about "old" section vs. "new" section, but I know that we have a 2007 Use Year (we bought on day 2 ) so we are able to book tomorrow if we wanted to. I believe later purchases were given points in the 2008 UY. I do wonder if those points can be borrowed and used immediately.....?

It has to do with the Unit # on your contract. There will only be so many rooms open right away. If your room number is not part of that grouping, you can't make the reservation.

For example, some of the early buyers may have been told they could book stays starting July 1...others like me purchased later and our "building" on the contract won't be available until September 1.

Yeah, I guess if you have 2007 points, then you should be able to use them. I am just reporting what I have read and what MS told me personally.

We just bought AKV in late-April (paperwork hasn't even closed yet) and got unit 45 (one of the ones supposedly available in July) so I'm not sure there is any meaningful timing to their designating a certain unit to new buyers.

I would have thought the early availability units would have been gone months ago, but it almost appears random by the unit we were given.

I should know for sure tomorrow morning when I call to book an August stay

I was told that your unit number was assigned based upon your use year month. I remember a earlier post that confirmed this. Does this mean that you may or may not be eligible to make a resi based upon your use year month?

As you can see from the posts in the "Ownership" thread, the first members to purchase March UY contracts got Unit 27 which is located within the "Sep 2007" phase of AKV. A month or two later, DVC started selling Mar UY contracts in Units 43 and 45 which are located within the "July 2007" phase of the resort. So those members who own Unit 43, 45 or any other Unit numbered from 41A to 45A, can probably use their AKV points for stays in mid July or later while those who purchased their AKV contract 2 months earlier and got a unit numbered below 40 can book stays beginning no earlier than Sep 1st. This is not a problem unless you want to stay at AKV prior to Sep 1st or use your AKV points somewhere else prior to Sep 1st.

It seems odd that those members who purchased earlier would have months they could not book (July & August) while those who purchased later are allowed to book today for stays beginning in July. It doesn't make sense to penalize those who purchase on day 1.

I have not read anything official other than AKV owners (regardless of unit or UY) can call MS beginning today, for stays beginning Sept 1. When I spoke ot MS they did not make any distinction either. The earlier mailer showing the resort and completion dates, did show some rooms completed by July 2007 but never mentioned that only a select group (UY or specific units) could book those units for stays in beginning in July.

In any case we will all know in a few hours.

Most AKV owners didn't get a choice of UY month. Existing members who added AKV to their contract received the same UY as the original contract. The DVC Guides were very quiet about todays AKV availability.
