We are trying to decide between AKV & BCV for Oct with 2 small (still napping) kids. We wanted to see if anyone may have any info on the AK bus situation. Timing to parks--problem--or any other info would be greatly appreciated.

Since no one has responded to your question, I will give it a try.

First, I don't think the bus transportation should be the deciding factor in choosing a resort. But here are a couple of facts and opinions to help:

IMHO, AKL used to be the best bus transportation resort and now that they have 2 bus stops instead of 1, I don't think that will change much. Not based on distance traveled but based on the number of stops the bus makes.

AKL does not share buses with another resort. This is probably the biggest difference with BC. BC will share with YC and BW at a minimum and sometimes will also share with SW/DO

AKL is close to all parks except MK. The buses to MK mostly take World Drive which is 50 MPH all the way and only stop at a couple of traffic lights, so it doesn't really take that long to get there.

AKL has buses to all Parks and DTD, while at BC you will have to take a boat or walk to EPCOT & HS

Fantastic--This is just what I needed. My husband thinks that the BCV will have better transportation to get our kids back to the rooms quickly for napping, but we all really wanted to stay at AKV because of the Savanna View & the hotel, with the location being our concern. Sounds like transport should not be too bad. Thank-you for the great info!!!

We just recently stayed here (Apr. 23 - May 2)and had heard things about AKL being "so far away". We didn't find that to be the case at all. MK was a 12-16 minute ride. Most times it was in the 12-14 min area. We had one longer one due to being stopped at the entrance to MK by a supervisor who was stopping all busses for some reason that day. Epcot was also about 15 mins and so was DHS. DTD was the farthest and was at least 20 - 25 mins. AK was less than 5 mins every time as to be expected. We had one long wait for a DTD bus in the middle of the day. We waited 27 mins that time. Other than that we never waited longer than 10 mins and was usually in the 5-7 min range. They have added a stop at the AKV which would add about 2-3 mins to the AKL bus ride, but if that is where you being dropped off it is fine. When leaving you will stop at AKL to pick up those guests. We thought the bus service was excellent and would have no problem using it again.

We just stayed at BCV. Lovely resort (fantastic pool, restaurants, etc), but I HATED the transportation, especially with a little one! The busses were very inefficient and took FOREVER. The walk to Epcot was nice and really close. However, the walk to DHS is really, really long and hot. We got turned away from the boats twice due to them being filled to capacity and we decided to walk instead of wait for the next one. I just find the boats to be a nice optioin, but incredibly slow! We found the BCV to have the worst transportation of any of the resorts we have stayed at.

I haven't stayed at the AK since the villas opened, but I agree with the others that it has GREAT bus tranportation. Probably the best we have experienced at any resort. It is really close to AK and DHS and not a far drive to Epcot. The trip to MK is longer, but all highway so not bad either.

Thanks for the great info!!! This is just what we are looking for!!! Thanks again!!!

You are welcome and you will love having a Savannah view room. It was a lot of fun to wake up to giraffe right outside your window.
