Some background info. I had posted after our last stay at BWV on 2/10. Condensed version, we had roaches in our room, were offered a credit, didn't get it until hours of phone calls, didn't receive the credit for almost a month. Member services promised pixie dust would be sent our way for our next trip. So, DH and I had a dedicated savannah view studio for our 12th anniversary. We arrived at AKV at 2:45 on 3/30 and our room was ready. Absolutely beautiful. We were in room 5503. I was very excited to go out onto the balcony since I could see 2 giraffe, 4 zebra and several cranes from inside. We opened the door to the balcony and were greeted by a swarm of about 50 bees. They obviously were not happy to see us. We went back in immediately as I am allergic to bees. I called the front desk and was told that someone from horticulture would be up to check it out. George came up about 20 minutes later, went outside, came in and said "You're not going to like what I tell you. You absolutely can not use the balcony. You need to be moved." I spoke with a CM at the front desk who tried to find us a new room. It took about an hour, but we were taken to a new studio room on the same floor. Again, beautiful room. Just as we stepped into the room, in came another CM with a gift basket from member services wishing us a Happy Anniversary. It contained lotion, candles, bath gel and a few sachets. Very pretty and very unexpected. Behind him was another CM with a box of 20 chocolate truffles and an anniversary card signed from Mickey and Minnie. Happy to be settled and see the view we try to go out onto the balcony. OMG! There is even a bigger hive of bees and these are actually hitting the door. You've got to be kidding. I called and talked to Kelly this time. She couldn't believe they assigned us the studio they did. She said they knew about the bees and the rooms were supposed to be off limits for three weeks. The problem was all DVC rooms were full, absolutely nothing was available. We offered to change resorts, but she asked us to be patient so she could arrange something. It was 4:20 before she called back. There was nothing in DVC, but they did have a savannah view with a King bed and would put us in concierge. Fine, whatever at this point. We had dinner reservations at Boma and just wanted to get settled. We wound up in 4431. Nice room. Not DVC, smaller than a studio, but nice and clean. Concierge was a nice perk. We enjoyed breakfast and then cordials at night. The rest of our trip was beautiful. The only bad thing is I don't know if I would stay at AKV again without being concierge. We enjoyed having our room serviced each day, new towels and turn down service. Oh, almost forgot. DH had surprised me with a Keys to the Kingdom tour yesterday. I didn't know we were doing it until we were in line to get our bags searched. Really fun tour. I highly recommend it!

Ok...What's with you guys and bugs?

Glad to read things worked out for the best!

So glad for this post. Now, I will not be visiting AKV! I am highly allergic to bees, had a life threatening event from one sting! What a bummer...I really wanted to try this resort. But now, no way, no how. :sad1:

I thought the same thing! I remember the roach thread and now bees. :rotfl:

ilovecoasters: I am glad that they finally made things right for you.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. We stayed AKV concierge in December. You can get kinda spoiled by it!

I said the same exact thing to DH. I understand that bees are beyond their control. They aren't something you can pretreat for. They seemed to like the rope coils that were in the corners up towards the roof. I told Kelly(the CM that helped us) they were taking the theming a bit far by providing African attack bees. :rotfl2:
