Is there any choice of what use year you can currently purchase or is it Sept only?

Still trying to fully understand the use year ramifications, but I suppose if we buy here, there is no choice in the matter.

I don't think Sept would be my first choice as I envision travelling initially in Jan ( we love it then and the kids are little and not in school yet), then after a few years March break or summer with the rest of the out-of-school crowds!

As I understand ( not much) it seems that ideally you want a UY that begins just prior to when you envision travelling....

Thanks for your thoughts.

For first purchases, I THINK they just sell them in order (and started with Sept UY points). If you've had any contact with a guide, you might want to call and ask them if you can request a specific UY for a first purchase.

Honestly, this is one thing that's always puzzled me...I don't see how UY matters much except when it comes to banking deadlines and cancelling ressies. Other than that, since you can "pre book" your points (ie: book a vacation at 11 months even if your points don't hit until 2 months before the travel date, or, heck, the DAY before you travel), can someone explain to me why it really matters?

Actually a September use year still gives you plenty of time to bank points should you have to cancel a ressie for January.

The reality is that in the long range scheme of things, use year is of little importance. It really only matters if you have to change vacation reservations late in the game. If you are in the habit of doing this, maybe it does matter, but in 10 years and 27+ trips, this has NEVER been an issue for us. Besides, your travel habits may change over the years, and then it wont matter anyway. Remember that use year has NOTHING to do with when you can book your trips. Only your check out date determins that.
