Could someone please compare the value and standard 2BR at AKV? Where are they located? How many do they sleep? Which ones have a sleeper chair? Which ones have a third bathroom? Any other important infomation? Thanks!

The Values only exist in Jambo House. Jambo House and Kidani Village both have Standard View Villas. The 2-bedroom Villas in Jambo House will be lock-offs (a 1-bedroom & studio with connecting door) and will have 2 baths (1 in the 1-bedroom and 1 in the studio). The 2-bedrooms in Kidani Village will have 3 baths. The Kidani Village 2-bedrooms can be either a lockoff or dedicated.

The Value 2-bedroom has an occupancy of 8 and does not have a sleeper chair. The Kidani Village 2-bedrooms have an occupancy of 9 and does have a sleeper chair.

For room locations in Jambo House, the values are along the Giraffe and Ostrich Trails. The Standard View will on the Zebra Trail facing the Uzima Pool.

The above post sums it up. The values are 3 ft. shorter than the standard in Jambo.

Thank you for the information :)
How easy or hard are any of these to book at 7 months?

Sometimes anything may be difficult, e.g., key holiday times. Otherwise, values are often difficult at 7 months many times of year because there are not many. Savanna and standard tend to be available at 7 months out most non-holiday times of year but make sure you call at exactly 7 months out to have best chance particularly for a standard; 80% of all rooms are savanna view.

Additonally as to the 2BRs: a value is about 945 sq ft, standard and savanna view 2BRs at Jambo are about 1072 sq ft, and all 2BRs at Kidani (both standard and savanna) are about 1173 sq ft and the ones at Kidani have 3 bathrooms.

Also to know about the value room is you could have a savanah, pool, or parking lot view and last I heard they did not take requests for which view you want.

I called about a week ago (my seven month mark) and had my choice of 2 bedroom standards at jambo or kidani (values were gone). My vacation is planned for the end of september though, so it may be easier at that time frame then when you're planning to travel, best of luck!:goodvibes

As fas as availability, also remember that you have a decent chance waitlisting if the standard or value isn't available at 7 mnth...
I had standard at Kidani, but I reserved that instead of Savannah because I was planning to switch at 7 mth for F&W BCV....and didn't want my original ressie to be more pts than my switch....I'm sure I'm not the only one who does this!

We stayed in 1 bdrm in Jambo house. Five of us - sleeper chair was in the living area near the sliders to the balcony door. My daughter slept in it and said it was quite comfy. Hope this helps

It's been a while but I have a few more questions. If we want to try to book a 2BR standard at Kidani - Do they all sleep 9? Do they all have 3 bathrooms? Can you book a lock-off over a dedicated 2BR? Thanks!

All 2-bedrooms at Kidani Village will sleep 9 and have 3 baths. If you prefer a lock-off, let the CM know when you call and they will reserve one if it's available for your dates.

Last December we stayed in both a value 2-bedroom in Jambo House and a standard 2-bedroom in Kidani Village. I took pictures of both and described them in my trip report which you can find here.

Here are some general observations at that time about the differences between the value 2-bedroom at Jambo House and the standard view 2-bedroom at Kidani Village.

  • At Kidani Village here are only two thermostats in the whole unit, one in the master bedroom that serves both that room and the livingroom and kitchen, and one in the 2nd bedroom. It would have been nice to separately control the temperature in each room.
  • The thermostats at Kidani don’t go as low as those in Jambo. We like to sleep in a cold bedroom, so we’ll lower the thermostat down to 65 or even lower. I think the one at Jambo went down to 65 and the one at Kidani only went down to 67. This trip that was easily solved by opening the door to the outside.
  • This may have been a function of the actual rooms we had, but all of our rooms at Jambo were much quieter than the one at Kidani. I never heard anything outside of our room at Jambo, but at Kidani I could hear people in the next room and in the hall way. I asked DB2, who had the deluxe studio that was right on the atrium at Jambo House if they had any noise problems and he said that they never heard a thing, even the incessant drumming in the lobby.
  • The water pressure at Kidani was terrible. It was much better at Jambo House.
  • All of our rooms were dark. I understand that this is part of the ambiance of the AKL, but really, some light would be nice.
  • The 2-bedroom at Kidani can sleep 9 while the value at Jambo can sleep 8.
  • There are three bathrooms in the 2-bedroom at Kidani, while there are only two bathrooms in the value at Jambo.
