Do the 2 bedroom units usually go early, or has there been good availability at 7 months in the past? Probably would splurge for the Savannah view. Not too picky about Kidani vs Jambo, the pros/cons are pretty equal for us.

Thinking about a early Dec 2019 reservation.

There is not "good availability" for anything in early December at 7 months.

You would most likely be looking at Kidani, dedicated, Savannah view. All Jambo 2BRs are lock offs and since studios will be gone so will 2BRs. The inventory for Savannah dedicated 2BRs is greater than that for Standard at Kidani.

And even then, might face needing to wait list. Early December 2019 will have the usual early December pressure, plus Galaxy's Edge open.

It depends on the time of year. Two bedrooms are generally more available than studios but less available than one bedrooms. Very little is available during the period from about October 1 through December 15. But there might be. If not then I would go for Saratoga springs or old key west. However it is clearly too late already for this year.

I’ve been trying to add one night to an existing 2 br. reservation at AKV Jambo for the first week of Dec. since around 9 or 10 months - I’ve had it waitlisted & I check every day - nothing has opened up, I’ve checked standard & savanna view, so based on my experience this year I’d say for Jambo - no chance. Kidani with it’s dedicated 2 br.s you might have a slight chance. That first week of Dec. is tough at every resort.

Thanks all. We might shoot for very early January instead, or at least leave that as an open option, avoiding marathon week of course. I did not think about Galaxy's Edge, that is going to throw a wrench into this plan. We are trying to bring extended family for 3 nights. We own at Poly, I guess we can reserve 2 studios, and if nothing opens up that will be better than nothing.

Galaxy Edge has little to add to what will be open for those two weeks. The first week of Dec has, for a long time, been the highest DVC demand week of the year at WDW, and the second week of Dec is the third highest (Christmas week is second and if you are considering "early Jan" note that Christmas week for DVC demand usually includes the night of Jan 1, and even 2 and 3 when Jan 1 is on a Friday, Sat or Sun). For 2018, all rooms at AKV were missing 4 to 7 nights a week for the first and second week of Dec at 7 months out. Particularly for the first week of Dec, even SSR has a probability of having at least studios with multiple nights missing at 7 months out.

Thanks. I wish I had the foresight to check 7 months for 2018, didn't think about it at that time. I might have found someone with points for rent, I would just need to offload some of my Poly to make up for it, I should not have too much trouble with that.

I put notifications in my phone ‘Calender’ for the appropriate dates, starting a day or two out, to remind me when I should book.

Anything can happen, but December seems to be a busy time with DVC. As others have pointed out SWGE most likely will be open so that will only make things more crowded.
January, if you get to the 2nd or 3rd week may be better as those with kids will be back in school, but with SWGE still new, I suspect availability will still be low.

First two weeks of January will be tough with the holiday and the Disney Marathon.

MLK holiday is late next year, Jan 21 (it is always the third Monday of Jan and Jan 1 is a Tuesday next year), and thus the marathon weekend is also late (always the weekend before MLK weekend), with the result that a 2BR savannah view at AKV, at least at Kidani, has a good chance of being open at 7 months out in early Jan at least for time from Jan 2 to 9.
