AK's parade - can my family be in it??

I understand that several guest families are picked to be in Mickey's Jammin' Jungle parade at Animal Kingdom. Has anyone been chosen? Does anyone have any tips on how my family could better our chances of being chosen??

Two things I've heard....

1. Only family of four - no larger.

2. Conversation overheard at Breakfastasaurus between CM and family.....he personally knew them....it was the little girls birthday....they were in the parade....do you know any cm's??

Well, the only CM we've gotten to know works in MK, not AK.

I think it might be also luck, being in the right place at the right time. My husband and I were chosen to be the Grand Marshalls in the MK parade on a Sunday in January. We had the most wonderful, magical day! We still talk about it. We were chosen around 9 am by a wonderful cast member, Robin. My husband is 6'4 around 250lbs and wears tigger ears for our entire trip. He also wears a lanyard with just tigger pins all over it. Needless to say, he stands out in a crowd! lol. Robin approached us and started carrying on a conversation, about 5 minutes later she asked us to the Grand Marshalls in the 3:00 parade. We, of course, jumped at the opportunity! So maybe if your family wears matching outfits and look decked out in disney, that may increase your chances to be noticed by the CM that selects the parade families. Good luck. dawn

We were walking on the back main trail from Asia to Africa. A couple of CM's ( professional dress) were walking with us.. they just asked us how late we were staying and if we wanted to be in the parade.. they gave us special passes to bring back to the back gate at a certain time and then we were all dressed in Safari attire, and asked to smile and wave. They also gave us a disposable camera! I'll tell you all, it was the most special time I have ever had at Disney. I get goose bumps just thinking of it! We were there with our grandaughter 6. It was a very special time for my husband and I . I especially loved waving and acting silly... while all the people watching the parade were looking at me wondering who I was.! We were in the parade during the first month of it's running. I am not sure if they still ask or how it works.

DawnAK, thanks for the ideas! We'd love to be Grand Marshals in the MK parade but I always figured our chances were pretty slim. Somehow I thought maybe the AK, with less of a crowd, might be easier....???
