AKL's Mara Restaurant - for breakfast?

We were thinking of going here for breakfast on our last morning with a chance at maybe seeing some animals, if that's possible. Do you think that would work? What time are the animals out? Is there a good spot to see them? (I'm not thinking we'd be able to see them FROM the restaurant, but we could walk around after, right?)

Mara is a counter service establishment...not a sit down restaurant. If that still appeals to you then yes, you can eat there and watch the animals from the resort. There are many viewing spots for the guests to use.

Yes, we will want a quick service meal for breakfast that morning. :) Is it easy to figure out where to go to watch animals?

We stayed at the AKL and there were few animals out in the am...the giraffe and zebra and large animals come out later in the afternoon to early evening.

And Mara is nothing special....I would not waste a trip there for breakfast.

We LOVE the Mara! You can eat and then find the animals. The Mara is right by the pool, so no animals there. Ask a CM where to find the animals. There are viewing areas you can go to outside that have CM's standing there to answer questions. Very easy.

We wouldn't really be going for the Mara specifically, mostly for the chance to watch the animals one last time before we leave, but we obviously don't want bad food either. :) Would there be a better idea for a fun quick service breakfast on the day we leave? Our idea was just to explore a different resort and eat somewhere different (we'll have seen the All Stars and Pop Century and Grand Floridian by that point, but we haven't been to other resorts).

I like the idea of brakfast at Mara and exploring AKL, it is a beautiful resort! :thumbsup2 And the Mara is fine for what it is, but it does get a bit crowded in the mornings

If you want other options: Captain Cooks at the Poly is an ok counter service and you could take your meal to a table at the pool from where you can see the MK castle in the distance.

Wolfgang Puck express at the Marketplace in DTD also offers breakfast and that might be the best quality CS breakfast you can get from what I have read. I never tried it myself. :goodvibes

I think Mara would be fine for a quick breakfast. The food is not horrible and it's not heavenly either. It's counter service breakfast, it's average. I would go, have a quick breakfast, explore the resort and animal watch!

It is a beautiful resort to wander around. By the pool you will see the flamingo pond but if you go out the back doors, by the big glass wall, you will come to the viewing areas with rocking chairs and guides to help you. It's my favorite resort and worth looking around.
