We are going to WDW in Dec and have ressie at ASmu and I have been crunching numbers. It would cost $374 more to stay at the AKL for a standard room. My question is... is it worth it for the standard room?

Hi! I've never stayed at a value resort, but have stayed at AKL and can tell you that I think it is definitely worth it! The hotel is beautiful!!!! There's nothing like sitting on your balcony and watching the animals in the savanah. Even if you don't have a savanah view room, you can sit on the public balcony and watch the animals. They even provide binoculars! There are great restaurants at AKL too! I just love it there!

Just my opinion but ...definitely! I wondered too when we were booked in standard view rooms but we fell in love with this gorgeous resort. There are so many places to view the animals and the lobby, pool and restaurants are wonderful. We plan on returning next year. This hotel has a good track record for giving complimentary upgrades so maybe you will be lucky and get one. And even if you aren't, unless you are planning on staying in your room for most of your trip, I wouldn't worry about what your view is. This is one resort that shouldn't be missed.

Just walking into the lobby would be worth it!!

My kids DS9 & DS10 are already excited just knowing that they are going to see MICKEY, I am thinking about doing this as a suprise. I think you guys and gals have already helped me make up my mind. Thank you sooo much :disrocks:

Thanks everyone. I just called and up graded our ressie for the AKL.

Your kids are a great age for AKL. My kids went about that age and were WOWed. They loved all the activities ! Enjoy !

We really enjoyed AKL - Boma was great and the activities with the CM's are fun as well. If you love animals you will love this resort.

I have another question if you guys/gals with oblige me. :goodvibes

We will be arriving early on a Monday, (like 8am ish) I know that I will not be able to check in, but will be able to store my luggage. My question is since I have the dining package and read that this is on your room key will I have a dilemma?

If you are going to the parks you would need to check in and get your room key anyway bc it also holds your admission if you are on a package, so when you check and get the key you will be able to use your dining plan even if your room is not ready. They will already have your room assigned so you won't even need to check in again. In fact they will probably give you the phone# to call later to see if your room is ready and they will even bring your bags to your room if you ask them. Hope this helps :teeth:
