Good Morning,
We are staying in a 2br Savanna view in April with 4 adults and 2 grand princesses aged 5 and almost 3. Any help in room requests would be helpful.
TIA
PS we are in Kidani

Requests to possibly make, in order:

1. Sunset Savanna view. 80% of all savanna view rooms overlook Sunset so request is likely to be granted; Sunset has giraffes and zebras, the smaller Pembe Savanna does not.

2. Room near the Rafiki elevator. It is on north side of the building (lobby faces west) not very far from the lobby, and provides the shortest trip from the building to the pool. Down that elevator to first/parking lot floor gives you a short trip to a gate to the pool.

If instead you would like to be close to the bus station (on the south wing), make that second request room near the Timon elevator, also not very far from the lobby. Down that elevator to second floor (same floor as lobby) leads to a door that provides shortest trip from building to the bus station.

Many suggest requesting close to lobby. That is a good request if you actually get it. The problem is that large numbers make that request including because it is included in requests one can make online when doing online check-in, the building is about 2/3 mile long, and everyone is trying to avoid the forever walks to the lobby, with the result that many have reported not getting that request granted, and, if a location request cannot be granted, they don't try to find something close to what you requested, but instead put you in any available room, which is often one far from the lobby.

Many also suggest requesting lower floor (second or third floor rather than fourth or fifth). To me either is fine with savanna view -- lower floor gives more direct-on view of animals, while higher floor provides more panoramic view.

Any request should be made through MS via email, chat or phone and can be made as early as when you make the reservation. During online check-in, there is a page that allows one to pick a room location request. Skip that request page during online check-in if you make requests through MS. Using it will wipe out any request made through MS and requests you can make during online check-in are few and at least one of them is completely ridiculous: you can request near an elevator (but cannot, when doing so, give the name of which elevator); there are three sets of elevators stretching along each of the two wings and a close to elevator request, without being able to name which elevator, can be met by putting you in any room in the building.

Thank you for the input.Yes our last 3 trips I've made my requests though email.

When I was looking at the map I was thinking Pemba because that was where Rafiki is,am I wrong?

We always request near lobby. This will put you on the good savanna regardless of which side of the lobby you are on and would save you from the notoriously long hallways.

See the map on this page (fourth post down) showing the location of the named elevators (the two in the lobby area are unnamed): www.disboards.com/threads/kidani-map-with-elevators-marked.3558443/#lg=_xfUid-1-1629905447&slide=0

The elevators are for both sides of the building, and thus anyone in a Sunset savanna view room, as well as anyone in a room facing Pembe savanna, the front entrance area, and a road, parking area or bus station, will use the same elevators. Thus, you can have a Sunset savanna view room near any of the elevators. On the ground floor is a parking lot that runs underneath most of the building, with some parking just outside the building. Rooms are in the second to fifth floor, and the lobby on the second. On the the ground/first floor, other than the parking lot, is the restaurant. Other than from the restaurant area, there is nowhere on the ground floor from which you can see the Sunset Savanna, as that first floor is boarded up on the Sunset Savanna side of the building.

All the elevators run from the ground floor/parking lot to the fifth floor. If you have a savanna view room near the Rafiki elevator, you can go down that elevator to the ground floor, where some of that additional outside parking actually is located on the pool side of the building, and walk outside across that parking area to a entry gate that takes you to the pool.

The Pumbaa elevator, seen on the map, also goes to the ground floor/parking lot area, but there is nowhere to exit the building near that elevator, which sits between two buildings units not far from the end of the building. The rooms on one side of those two building units are savanna view rooms overlooking Sunset. The rooms on the other side of the two building units directly overlook Pembe, and are all standard view rooms. You get to the pool from those rooms by walking through the under-building parking lot to the area fairly near the Rafiki elevator that has a gate to the pool, or, alternatively, just walk from your room to the Rafiki elevator and go down it to get to that gate to the pool..

So Sunset Savanna and Rafiki elevator, best of both worlds?
I guess it depends on what you consider best. If you want not very far from the lobby, with a Sunset savanna view, and quickest access to the pool, then request Sunset savanna view with a room near the Rafiki elevator. If instead, you want close to the bus station and not very far from the lobby, then ask for room near the Timon elevator not the Rafiki elevator. If you want room with shortest walk to Jambo (but far from the Kidani lobby and pool),then request near the Zazu elevator. And if you have standard view and want a chance for a savanna view of Pembe request near the. Pumbaa elevator (but you'll have very long walk from room to lobby or bus station.

The maps are somewhat deceptive because you cannot tell how long the building actually is, but from one end to the other end it is about 2/3 of a mile, meaning rooms can be as far away as 1/3 mile from the lobby (which is a little under the length of 6 football fields)

Yes drusba A is exactly what I meant by best. A savanna with giraffes and close to the pool.
