The official answer when I checked was "no."

However, I have read posts from lots of people who do with no problem!

Where did you get the official answer from? The WDW site lists the Kidani pool as one of the recreational amenities available to guests of AKL - so if it is in fact not allowed WDW needs to correct their advertising. I believe Jambo and Kidani are like POR and POFQ and guests at one can use the other's facilities.

We stayed last year and were told concierge guests from AKL could use both. But it isnt open to everyone

Just reread the sticky on pool hopping and per the FAQs - yes, Jambo and Kidani can use each other's pools.

Jambo House and Kidani Village are all one resort. If you are staying at that resort, you can swim in either pool.
