We leave in 20 days and I was thinking that first day we arrive we might go visit the new Animal Kingdon Villas that they are building- What is the best way to get there by bus?
Plus we are checking in on a Sunday we should arrive at BWV at about 1:00 what do you think our chances of getting an early check in is?

To get to AKL, you can either go to the front of Epcot and take the AKL bus from there, or take the monorail to TTC and take the AKL bus from there. Now, that wont necessarily get you in a spot to see anything other than construction equipment off in the distance. If you want to see what the rooms will be like, you will have to take a bus to SSR and visit the AKV room displays that are built in the theater.

The easiest way to get to AKL from BWV would probably be to walk to Epcot or MGM and take the bus from there directly to AKL. Keep in mind that if you want to view the villas, you should go to SSR where they have the room models.

I think you can check in at BWV at 1:00 with no problem for the early check-in. Getting your room on the other hand could be a bit of a wait. ;)

Seriously, it's luck of the draw as to room availability. Go ahead and check in and if a room isn't ready for you just check your luggage with bell services and go out and enjoy the parks for a few hours. :)

I'm not really sure you're going to be able to check out the new building project. I understand it is being built away from the present site and I doubt if they allow anyone but construction workers near the site.

As to checking in early? That's like playing any game of chance in terms of having a room ready. I've checked in early before (11:00 a.m.) and was given my room immediately. At other check-ins, I was calling after 4:00 p.m. and it was still not done.

If the rooms is ready, you'll get it. If not, they'll give you your room key and a phone number to call. Once the room is ready and you call in, they will let you know where you will be.

That way, if you want, you can head off to the parks or downtown Disney or somewhere else.

I don't really need to see the rooms I just want to see the resort- I have heard great thing about it. Can you see the savannah from the hotel area? Or is that only if you have a room there?
Not sure we will make it to the parks- boys are 2 would love them to take a nap.

Yes, you can see the savannah's while visiting the resort. Just walk straight through the lobby and out onto a viewing/walking area. There are also viewing areas down the hallways. It's a beautiful resort, with lots of interesting artwork, etc. to look at. Enjoy!

ohhh please please please take losts of pics of the lodge and the views you get from the rooms.

we are waiting the paperwork for DVC AK and i'm dying to see pictures of the views from there.

Allears has a pretty good set of AKL photos: http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/g_akl.htm including some taken from the 5th floor, which will give you an idea of the view you will have from AKV villas in that area of the resort.
