AKL yay or nay?

it has been a while since we stayed there, but the whole family loved AKL

AKL is incredible, you'll love it!! Take the time to really check out the animals, you don't need a savannah view to see them all as there's other places in the hotel to stand and look.

We stayed there for 3 nights in January - we booked a standard room at Jambo and were upgraded to a beautiful Savannah room with bunkbeds for the kids. It was great. The room did not seem to need any refurbishment at all, I thought it was beautiful! Although it did sound like there was a herd of elephants above us at night - so if I had to do it again, I would request a higher floor (we were on 3rd, just a few quick steps to the lobby).

I wouldn't switch. I agree with everyone else that AKL is amazing! Have a great trip!

I can't understand how anyone could say it needs a refurb! Stayed for our honeymoon in April and loved it. It is truly the most stunning Disney hotel, in my opinion. You just can't beat the theming!

I loved Animal Kingdom Lodge. We stayed in a standard room that ended up having a partial savannah view. We're staying at Beach Club in November because I got a really good price and we wanted to be near Epcot, but I'm already kind of wishing we were going to be at AKL instead. I'm sure we'll like Beach Club, too, but I think next trip we will try to go back to AKL.

how is bus service at AKL? With Kidani having first pickup, is it standing room only when it gets to the Lodge?

We stayed at AKL for 10 nights in June. The resort is amazing and we absolutely loved it. The only problem we had was with the busses. We would sometimes wait 30-40 minutes for a bus and then just have it show up practically filled from the Kidani village stop. It was a huge topic of conversation on every bus ride as the other guests were just as frustrated. We finally broke down and paid for a cab a few times so we wouldn't miss our dining reservations.

My stay at AKL last year was my first and only time at a deluxe (for now), and I am absolutely in love with that resort. Not once did I think it needed a refurb. We did experience some slowness with the busses arriving there, but it wasn't the norm.

We had our first stay here October of last year. Not sure if we'd go back. We stayed in the Grand Villa and loved pretty everything about the hotel...the room was awesome, the food was great, pool was really cool. However the bus rides to anywhere outside of AK seemed to take forever. Especially the ride to MK was just way too long for us.
