Looking to take my kids 17, 18, and 22 for a last-minute getaway, late to the party I wouldn't usually try booking this late but who knows when the state sare going to shut down so hoping I can get at least to January?!
rates are great for a 4-day stay and I can get a Kidani studio for 1295 or Yacht Club villa for 1495. stuck on figuring which one to chose!! help me decide!!! I like the idea of walking to Epcot and HS so that's pulling me but the kids may really enjoy AKL with the animals. any comments on transportation issues from AKL??? I cant decide :)

The Yacht Club doesn't have villas, it's a deluxe hotel. The Beach Club has DVC villas. I would choose YC, as AKL's hotel is currently closed. Your only option for food is Sanaa. I do love Sanaa, but not having a quick service restaurant at the hotel is a hindrance. If you had a one bedroom at Kidani, you'd have a full kitchen, so not having quick service would likely be ok. The studio has a small fridge, toaster, and a microwave, so you can bring a small amount of food, but a hot breakfast is not really possible.

Also, YC will have two real queen sized beds. AKL has one bed, and a pull-out couch.

OMG thank goodness I asked, no available quick service would be a deal-breaker for me and my kids!!!!!

If you are going VERY soon - like the month of November. You can rent points right now for some amazing deals. On Friday, we booked 3 nights at Polynesian villas - studio- LAKEVIEW for $540 total ! $8/point.

Booked on Thursday and we arrive on Monday. WE have never done this before. It is going to be GREAT !! 4 days and 3 nights. one park each day. We have APs.

We are DVC and AKL is our home resort. If I had to choose right now, it would be the YC. Their pool, close proximity to the parks, the Boardwalk and access to the Skyliner make it an easy choice, especially with the ages of those travelling. AKL is also the furthest from most parks and is not fully opened, which means food and transportation options are not the best.

At this time I think the Yacht Club offers the kids a bit more. The room at the Yacht club will be larger that a Kidani Studio. The pool at the Yacht Club includes a lazy river component as well as a large, long pool slide. The kids are old enough that you won't be stressing by the size of the pool. The QS is larger with more variety. If you are going to do parks, both Epcot and HS are within walking distance or they can ride the skyliner. Actually, even without the parks, they can ride the skyliner.

I would say YC for sure for those ages. I love both but YC has more food options close by, better pool if it’s warm enough during your stay and you can’t beat walking to Epcot/HS and other transportation options there.

Not to get too far off topic, but where did you find the owner to rent from? Did you go through a broker or the rent/trade forum here?

Another vote for YC. So much more that you can walk to. Lots more food options around the Boardwalk area (don't forget swan and dolphin).
