AKL vs WL

....comparing WL to AKL is like comparing a Cadillac to a fruit salad! Point is: you CAN'T!! Both have wonderful things to offer - both have pros and cons! Although I've only EATEN at AKL [Boma - twice] I found it to have a wonderful atmosphere, and I am hoping to have a great vaca when we visit in Feb. The AKL pool is a zero-entry pool; the WL one is NOT! There are several things to enjoy with the kids at WL - the duck races, the otter pond, the beach area, the geyser, the Electric Water Parade, the boat ride to MK, etc. The AKL offers the animals [of course!], story-telling, bead-collecting( when the kids join in certain activities), cookie-decorating, etc. EITHER resort would be a great family destination (IMHO, I think there is a better food selection for the young ones at WL!)

Just got back last week from staying at both hotels. Loved both of them,
AKL was wonderful, and had no problems at all with the buses. The trips to
the parks did not seem long at all, and not sharing with anyone else is great.
WL lobby and surroundings are beautiful but the rooms are not up to par with
AKL, something is missing and not as warm feeling. Liked the ferry ride to MK
but transportation to other places was lacking, seemed like a lot longer wait
for the bus to pick us up. Ate at both places, Boma's was awesome, boys
8 and 5 loved the buffet and desserts  Whispering Canyon was fun
also, but our waiter was kind of a dud compared to other tables, oh well maybe next time. If I had to choose again, would choose AKL hands down,
everything was unbelievable, savannah, food, transportation, people, and
the wonderful vibe of the whole place. Wilderness Lodge was great too, but
the rooms were a disappointment, at least for me. Good Luck

Of course, we all LOVE Boma for breakfast and I think we may eat at Jiko this coming trip.

We have rezs that morning at Donald's Breakfastsaurus, which I think is inside Animal Kingdom, not the resort. I asked for a breakfast seating for Saturday morning and the rep didn't say anything about Boma. What/where is it? I am assuming it's at AKL. Is their character dining?

Yes...Boma is inside the AKL. It is EXCELLENT. I have not done the Donald Breakfast but I have not heard any great reviews. BUT...if you have a little one with you he or she will probably like the character breakfast better. there are no characters at Boma.

We ate at Donald's Breakfast, and I wouldn't do it again! The breakfast itself was good, but it seemed to take a while before the chracters came by, and when they did, they rushed! I didn't like the feeling...Also the building itself is sort of dark and has a rustic feel, which I guess is the theme, but personally, I didn't care for it. I loved the Krispy Kreme donuts! That was my first time ever trying them, and I fell head over heels! We don't have those shops up here in Alaska...we also had a chracter meal at the Crystal Palace which was great! We did dinner there...those chracters spent a lot more time with each table!! I do love BOMA though, you have to try it, if you are adventurous, I thought it was going to be all gamey food, but it was just spicy, and I love their spices!! Kind of middle eastern-ish with curries and fruits, etc. Excellent variety, even for the kids! Their wines weren't bad either! Kelly :cool1:
