AKL vs. WL

I am going to WDW Dec. 30th 02 - Jan. 12th 03. I am either going to stay at AKL or WL. I really need to know which one is better. Thanks!

Which one is better is subjective. We perfer the AKL or the WL for the following reasons.

1. We perfer the theming of the AKL to the WL.
2. We feel that the transportation at the AKL is more efficient then the WL. The AKL does not share buses with any other resort.
3. The animals. I cannot put into words the feeling my husband and I get watching Zebra and Wilderbeast(sp?) walk by.
4. The pool area. We perfer the pool area set up at the AKL to the WL.

Hope this information helps and hope you have a great trip. If we can get a could discount at the AKL we are hoping to stay there again in Feb 2003 instead of CSR.

I don't think you will go wrong with either one...they are BOTH going to be GREAT for you. We stayed at the WL on our last trip and it was wonderful and gorgeous. We are staying at AKL in Dec. (our 1st time there). I think that if I had to choose, I would go with AKL (even though we haven't been yet)...I think the transportation will be better...and it sounds like the restaurants at AKL are much better than the ones at WL. Boma and Jiko and their food court - Mara - are always getting great reviews. We thought the food at WL was ok...nothing we'd care to do again. You will love them both...they are built by the same builder...I'd have to say AKL...mainly because of the buses, food, and animals. We watched it on the Travel Channel the other day and we can't wait!! You are going to be there long enough that you could split your stay between the 2.

I haven't stayed at the AKL yet so I guess I am not yet qualified to give an opinion. BUT when making our September/October 2002 reservations (we had a postcard code for AKL or WL) our first choice was WL but the only rooms available for our dates were courtyard view and still a little pricey for us. So we chose AKL because of price and the good reports we had heard about their transportation. I still like the location of WL better.

I can't say enough nice things about AKL! My whole family loved our stay there. Try to get a savhanna view if possible. The restaurants are great but the animals really add to the expierence. You will love it!

I haven't been to either, but since you are going to be at WDW for so long, why not stay at both? WDW will transfer your bags for you while you are at a park or DTD. I would do WL first, with the boat launch to MK & EWP, then AKL second to relax a bit more at the end of your trip. Just a thought!

I've stayed at both, and I really enjoyed both. The AKL seems a little "deluxer" (it's a word *now*), but it is also newer. The WL seems more relaxed and cozy. It really is a personal issue, as to which you would prefer. I prefer the AKL, but I love both.
I agree with the suggestion to split your stay!

Definitely go with WL. I have stayed there and I absolutely loved it! I visited and had dinner at AKL but I thought it was very isolated and there were on a few animals out. But go with WL!
