AKL Villas or Contempory Resort

We are planning a trip in 6/08. We were thinking of stying in the AKL Villas (if they are open) or at in the A-Frame the Contemporary Resort. We have two girls who will be 4 and 7. Does anyone have any imput as to which would more enjoyable for them?

Neither is a bad choice.

The AKV villas that will be finished by that time are all those (5th and 6th floors) that will be in the current AKL building. Thus, for June you will essentially be staying in AKL if you can get a reservation. AKL gives you animals to view, good eating places, an excellent and large pool and play area. You bus to all parks. It would be fine choice for kids that age.

Contemporary gives you something you may consider more important: MK right at your doorstep (you can walk over) which, with 4 and 7 year olds, may be the park most often hit in any stay. It also has good eating places and a decent pool. Downside is its stark look inside (and from outside) the building (although rooms are nice).

Personally, I would do AKV but that is because I really do not like the look of the Contemporary either from the outside or when inside. Others think it is fine.

Why not do a split stay?

AKV will give your girls a chance to wake up with the giraffes (and you to catch up on laundry if you get a 1 bedroom or better). There's also a great zero entry pool there with water slide and lots of daytime kids club resort activities. It would be a retreat from the high intensity vacation.

CR will give you the backdoor access to Magic Kingdom (the one park they will probably love best) and infinite times riding the monorail just for fun. You'll also have the Electrical Water Parade at night to entertain them. And the CR gift shop is jampacked full of princess gear. (One of the best princess shops onsite.)

I'm thinking of a 5-7 day stay. The first 3-4 days at Contemporary in a Tower room where you'll be hyped up on parks and in your princess overdrive. Then the last 2-3 days at AKV where you can wind down, enjoy the pool and resort, and hop over to Animal Kingdom to enjoy the zoo experience.
