Hi! I booked a 1BR Jambo savannah view room for my family (2 adults and kids ages 13, 9 and 5) May 13th-22nd (soon!) and would like to make a room request- but I'm not sure what savannah/room area to ask for. Does anyone know if there is a map anywhere online that I could see where 1br Jambo villas are located? We would like to have the best view possible- my 5 year old is asking to see zebras and/or giraffes (although that is not a must) but would also like to be somewhat close to the lobby or wherever drinks and coffee are served;-) Any suggestions? Thanks!!!

Wow thanks for the map link! Here's a stupid question- what does "lock off" and "dedicated" mean? Thanks :-)

A Lock-Off 2-Bedroom is made up of a Studio and a 1-Bedroom with a connect door. The Studio will be the 2nd bedroom.

A dedicated 2-bedroom can only be reserved as a 2-bedroom and usually will have 2 queen beds in the 2nds bedroom.

The Studios and 1-Bedrooms on the map that are shown as lock-off are those that can be reserved as a 2-bedroom.

All Jambo 2BRs are "lock-offs" meaning they can be separate studio and 1BR; there are double "lock-off" doors between them. Dedicated means the room can be used only as designated. You will have the 1BR side of a lock-off. All restaurants, pool, and bus area are near the lobby and thus room close to lobby gives you that quick access. However, those rooms very close to the lobby are not the ones with the best views. Getting away from being close to lobby is better. We particularly like, and would recommend requesting, away from the lobby on Zebra Trail at Jambo which is one side of the building facing the internal savanna, Arusha. Giraffes and zebras are on all three of the savannas at Jambo.

I like the arusha savannah. The elevator in that wing goes down to the pool area very near the Mara.

Now, my last AKV stay was last month and I had a view of the Sunset Savannah, and we saw many many animals, including a late night (11PM) gathering of zebras that was awesome!

My DS was in a room on Uzima savannah and they saw lots of animals, but their room was quite far away, I was shocked by the walk, but we were in a totally different area of the resort, not just coming from the lobby.

Enjoy your stay!

Thanks for all of the great advice! One more question- I have not always been successful in getting areas that I have requested at other Disney resorts- so just in case, are there any savannah views that I definitely don't want? Are there any savannah areas that you have been disappointed with?

It really depends on what you want to see. Zebras are only on Arusha and Sunset. Giraffes are on all savannahs.

Also...please remember that these are live animals, and can roam freely in their area. There are times that they hang out at the very back of the savannah, near the fences bordering the next savannah, and are not visible from your room.

They also take the animals in every morning for about a 2 hour period. On the Sunset Savannah, the animals are called in around 8:00 am. Depending on what savannah you are on, and the time they take the animals in, you may not ever see animals in the morning from your room.
