AKL Villas for Non-DVC guests?

Just checking to see if anyone is being quoted a stay there via DRC. I read on the "upsell" thread that someone was offered a room at a studio there for an upgrade from a regular room at WL. Since there will be a certain percentage of inventory that will be able to be reserved for non-DVC guests and since they opened bookings for DVC guests yesterday who had purchased new points at AKLV, I'm thinking that there may be availability now for cash ressies. If so it would be a great chance to try something very new and to get a larger accomodation at AKL with kitchen facilities. I'm wondering what the cash rates will be- anyone try to reserve there yet through DRC? ---Kathy

i skimmed thru the thread (right one I think?) and didn't see the post?!?

do you remember what dates this was for?

it's my understanding they're not taking ressies until sometime the beginning of July

Today I called to check the price for WL for Oct. and she gave me the price then offered me a upsell to AKLV for 87.54 more for the same dates. I dont know why it was such an odd amount though . But she did tell me it was a studio and rerad off what it had in it . I thanked her and and said that I would ask my DH about it when he got home. She said when I called back it may or may not be available to me at that time .

I copied this from the Upsell thread. I was really surprised to see it as well. There are so few rooms available as DVC units during that time -- I couldn't believe they would be offering one as an upsell through CRO already.

I know with DVC there is always a percentage of inventory that is not sold to members that will always be for cash reservations, then closer in, if anything isn't reserved by members it will also go into general inventory. I was surprised to see this too and am wondering what the cash rates will be. The rooms look gorgeous. When I called MS to reserve something for Sept. I was told that concierge rooms will not be available til May 1, 2008 which also surprised me since standard concierge is available now for cash ressies. Perhaps there will be a different concierge area?---Kathy

I saw this too & was shocked myself. They just began offering the rooms to members 2 days before.
