Has anyone stayed at both a value studio and a standard studio at AKL?

If so what is the difference?

Thank you!

The value rooms are smaller than any other rooms, e.g., the studio is about 315 sq ft compared to about 360 for standard and savanna view rooms. Also, because of that, the value 1BRs and 2BRs do not have the sleeper chair in the living room that the other 1 and 2BRs have. The values are all at the front part of Jambo and can have pool (40%), savanna (40%), or parking lot (20%) view; standards at Jambo have pool view except a few have partial savanna views. For value, you cannot request view and it is luck of the draw.

Values are of limited number and they can disappear quickly after the 11 month reservation window opens.

Yes, we have done both - we were just in a std. studio at Jambo House over MLK weekend. The Value studio is noticeably smaller and there's not a lot of room to store your luggage etc. We're just a family of 3 and found it tight for 3 nights pre-cruise once. But we also had a lot of luggage that time that I didn't want to unpack for just 3 nights (mostly for the cruise). I would never book a value studio for more than 2 or 3 nights. It's just too cramped.

We also prefer the studios in Jambo House to the ones in Kidani Village. They have different layouts. The ones in Jambo have a slightly larger kitchenette area with a true "bar sink". The kitchenette at Kidani is so short / small it has more of a bathroom basin type of sink - I couldn't even get the coffee pot in it to rinse it out it was so shallow. The bathrooms are also different. At Jambo they have the traditional toilet / tub & shower layout in 1 room and the vanity area is out in the open so 2 people can get ready at once. At Kidani, the bathroom has the toilet alone in a "water closet" and the vanity is in a room with the tub / shower. We thought it was more practical to have the vanity area out by itself for privacy / efficiency.

PP indicated that for the 1B and 2B value rooms, not the studios.

I have stayed in both value and standard view studios at Jambo. I much prefer value due to the location of the rooms. Originally, I love the standard view studio category, then they went and reclassified some of the savanna view to standard view because they were less than desirable. And that less than desirable view got me in the very last room of the resort TWICE. :hyper: The value studio is noticeably smaller than the standard, but I still prefer it. :thumbsup2

I saw that but I mentioned it only because the OP had specifically asked about value studios not the other units so I just wanted to make sure she knew there were no chairs in the studios……….

For me & DH I will book a value if possible. DH likes the pool view, it is very convenient to the elevator to the pool. I like the chance of getting a savannah view, and the point savings are great. I have gotten the parking lot side once, not too bad as I've stayed in values at least 10 times.

If value is not available, I book savannah.

Thank you. It's just for 2 people, does that make a difference in your mind?

That's helpful....still tight for an extended period of time but as already mentioned if you're not using the pullout that's probably the biggest bonus. The 1 time we used a value we had a "pool view" but in reality all we could see was trees / leaves.

Thanks everyone. Might consider as it saves almost 20 points. 1 Couple out of room a lot. Not big luggage and no need to pull out sofa but it is for 1 week!

Just MH & I stayed in one in January for a 5 night stay and felt we had plenty of room; especial for the two of Us. I think when you get used to a 1BR It would seem small; for us, our last Disney stay was at the POP. So the value studio at Jambo felt huge. :)

We also got a savannah room view ! Wasn't a great view but for a value room it was fabulous!:)

Not only have I stayed in both, but I've stayed in both on one stay. When AKV first opened, I split a stay between the room-types so that I could assess the difference (strange, maybe). Maybe because it was a solo trip, but the smaller room in the value studio didn't seem significant to me at all. Frankly, since that first visit, I've been a HUGE fan of value studios and we even considered adding on at AKV for the 11 month window on the value studios. One little thing that impressed me was that the vanities in the value studios have double sinks, yet at BCV (one of our homes), you don't get double sinks even in their "deluxe" studios. The only thing I noted on value studios is that the bad and sofa are reversed, so that the bed is right next to the sliding glass door. I wonder if an extremely light sleeper might note noise from outside, being so close.

I believe that only some of the studios are set up that way. In Jambo House, some lockoffs have the connecting door in the living area rather than in the entry way. In order to have enough room around that doorway they have to put the sofa across from the connecting door and put the bed next to the sliding doors.

The other main difference between the Value studios and the Standard View (and Savanna View) studios is that there isn't room in the Value studios for the storage bench. Since there is so little storage space in those rooms, that little bench with it's large drawer is very handy.

I'm always impressed when I see room pictures. The MINUTE I arrive, the room is a mess and taking a good picture is futile!

Thank you! Going to give the value a shot!:thumbsup2

To clarify, if I want a chance at savannah view book jambo side?

Values are only at Jambo and room requests aren't taken (I've read).

In January, we had a dedicated value studio, pool view, and it had a dedicated closet in it. That was nice.
