AKL value studio?

We have only stayed in value once. It was near the lobby with an obstructive pool view. It also was extremely noisy. Love the low points but for us, not worth it due to the noise.

opposite experience. have had a savannah view each time with lots animals throughout the day. would not be dissapointed with a different view as we know savannah is not guaranteed. we didn't choose animal kingdom as a home resort because of the value rooms but it has become a great bonus for us.

We just got back from a 5 night stay in a value room (102 points) and had the pool view. My thoughts on this:
  • Very, very bright and hot on the balcony first thing in the morning. Nothing one can do about that.
  • The noise from the pool is loud for those not accustomed to a lot of noise. It is a mix of children playing (most of the time), the cleaning of the pool area (around 8am) and the dance party DJ, which seems to run from 1-4, slight variations on the times depending on the day and what they're playing for games at the pool. There is also a movie run down by the pool late in the evening, but the sounds were muffled for me, I could only make out the music. The sounds bothered me the first couple of days, but by the last ones I was growing accustomed to it.
  • Most pool view value rooms have large trees in front of them. Some trees will loose their leaves for a few months from December through Feb, but then your view is of sticks. I prefer leaves.
  • One room (I shall not say which as requests are NOT honored for values and I don't want anyone demanding it) has a fantastic view of the fireworks over at DHS. We had this and it worked out great as I had mobility issues this trip and was rather sad that all I had done was a handful of mediocre rides, no fireworks or parades. It was a true treat to see them.
Overall - I loved it, and even without the fireworks, I would book value again.

I am so glad someone brought this up. We were in value studio room 5020 for 8 nights starting May 23rd. I was so excited when I got this room because I love the view, location and have had it before. BUT, I absolutely know the pool games were not that loud last time I stayed in it. It wasn't the children laughing or playing or even when the CM would use the mic for the pool games. It was the incessant bass booming for the music from the loudspeaker during the pool games that made it impossible to rest in the afternoon. I mean, I absolutely felt I was in a disco from the 70s without the "acid trip". :teeth: And forget breakfast out on the balcony before heading to a park. There was always something being done that required a generator. BUT, I still love the value studios for the, well, value.

mind was down the ostrich trail? - all the value savanna views have been here that I have had,

That is where the Value rooms that are savanna and parking lot views are located on the Ostrich Trail. The pool views are the opposite direction, down the Giraffe trail. When you come out of the elevator alcove, you turn left and then have to turn right for Ostrich Trail or left for the Giraffe Trail. See the map in post #11 above.

On the pool side, there's a very convenient elevator for the pool. It has been years since I've booked a value villa, and sometimes on the pool side I thought it was noisy. Even at night voices in the pool seemed to carry right up! I have a 7 night stay in September, part in 1 bedroom, rest in 2 bedroom, hoping to remain in same 1 bedroom part. "Continuing " has been put on the reservation. I'l just thrilled that 5 of my friends can join me for 5 nights for just a small number of points!

We will be there for a MNSSHP, a Member event at AK, and the start of F&W!

Only once did I not get my value view/floor 'request'. Never heard that they ignore requests for that category:confused3will chalk it up as to being very lucky.

I did add on there specifically for value points #. Not quite as difficult as BWV standard studios during F&W, but the value studios go fast. I've had to waitlist/adjust dates of stay to make it work a few times.

have experienced no issue with the pool view rooms as to light or noise. I do pull the curtains at night and we rarely are in the room durng the afternoon or even when the pool is still open at night. One thing I like about new FP+ system is ability to utllize the pool in the morning, when it's nearly deserted & know we won't have a wait in line when we do head to the parks early afternoon.

bobbi - we just discovered the elevator you mentioned, never a wait:thumbsup2

Woo-hoo. ...on our way to our value studio now for just one night. Just got a text that our room is ready early and thanks to the map in this post we can see it is savanna view! We'll enjoy the room and pool today and the AK park tonight when it cools down a bit. Feeling lucky.

Just in case you need one there are no accessible values which is a shame for is disabled folk! And no accessible club studio only a 1 bed. This actually stopped us buying at AK which is a shame. Lovely resort.

They're all on one floor. They're about 40%/40%/20% split between savanna/pool/parking lot view. So it's pretty common to get a decent view.

lol decent is subjective term, I was referring to savanna. pool would certainly be better than parking lot.

other than fact there are so few of them, never did understand why the savanna views aren't a separate category. I'd be happy to expend more points on them for a guarantee.

the value studios are really tight, don't think they were able to successfuly retro fit the rooms to accommodate a WC.

Our 11 month window opened up on the 4th... the person I'm renting points from checked on the 3rd and the 4th was already booked. We were able to book the 5th-12th today. Hoping the 4th will eventually open or else I will book standard view for 1 night. I am pleased and can't wait!!!!

We have always stayed in a value resort (except for another time we rented points in a value studio). So this is a real treat.
